Well, it’s official: music has a new queen.
Not content to just be the first female rapper in close to 20 years to hit No.1 on the Billboard charts, Cardi B just unseated Beyoncé to have five Top 10 singles simultaneously on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart. Cardi is only third musician ever to earn that distinction, with Kendrick and Drake being the others. Cardi especially stands out, however, as she achieved the feat with her first five chart appearances ever. Until now, though, she was tied with Beyoncé with four simultaneous entries on the chart at once, which she managed twice in two consecutive weeks (Jan. 13 and Jan. 6).
The five songs and their positions are:
#1 – “Finesse” by Bruno Mars, on which Cardi features,
# 3 – “No Limit by G-Eazy, on which Cardi features,
# 4 – “Motorsport” by Migos, Nicki Minaj, and Cardi,
#7 – “Bartier Cardi”, and of course:
#10 “Bodak Yellow”,
“Bodak Yellow”, of course, broke a nearly 20-year-old record which made Cardi the first female rapper to nab the No. 1 spot on the Hot 100 since Lauryn Hill with “Doo Wop (That Thing) in 1998.
Cardi’s ascendance to the upper echelons of pop superstardom looks all but assured at this point.
