Alanis Morissette’s manager stole $4.8 million from her

YOU OUGHTTA KNOW not to mess with Alanis Morissette, but apparently her former business manager, Jonathan Todd Schwartz, didn’t get that memo.

Schwartz admitted to stealing nearly $5 million from the singer between 2010 and 2014, attempting to disguise the cash withdrawals as “sundry/personal expenses,” while spending it on get-aways to the Bahamas and Bora Bora.

Schwartz, whose roster of artists included Mariah Carey and Beyoncé, didn’t just embezzle funds from the Jagged Little Pill songwriter; according to court documents, he snagged an additional $2.3 million from five other clients. His former firm, GSO Business Management, traced his thefts after Morissette’s new management alerted them to her losses. GSO has since paid back the losses, and has filed a suit against Schwartz.

Schwartz has pled guilty on charges of wire fraud and subscribing to a false tax return, and will appear in U.S. District Court on February 1.

Schwartz is the latest in a line of male industry scumbags mistreating and abusing their female clients. Last year, publicist Heathcliff Berru of Life Or Death PR resigned following numerous sexual assault allegations.
