Tyga Drops $10 Million Lawsuit Against Birdman

Published: April 22, 2019

Tyga is ending his legal war with Cash Money.

The rapper has dropped his $10 million lawsuit against Birdman after he accused the Cash Money founder of not paying him royalties for years.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Tyga is voluntarily dismissing all claims against Cash Money and Young Money in the lawsuit.

The “Taste” rapper says he signed a deal in 2009 to produce two albums for the label—2012’s Careless World: Rise of the Last King and 2013’s Hotel California.

According to the lawsuit, Cash Money and Young Money agreed to pay Tyga in 2016 all the royalties that he says were owed to him for years, but his requests for payment were unsuccessful. He sued Cash Money for breach of contract and sought $10 million in damages.

Cash Money denied all allegations of wrongdoing and demanded the lawsuit be dropped. The two sides were negotiating a settlement, but those talks fell apart. Birdman later said Tyga was the one who owed Cash Money, claiming he was paid advances that were not recouped.

The case is now officially closed.
