Migos Did Not Like ‘SNL’ Parody Skit

Published: February 22, 2019

“SNL” may have had some fun at Migos’ expense, but the group was not laughing.

Last May, the late-night show parodied the Grammy-nominated group in a skit starring Donald Glover, Chris Redd, and Kenan Thompson. In the “Friendos” clip, the Atlanta trio sits down with a therapist to help them work on their friendship, suggesting that there was friction between the members.

While answering questions during an interview for GQ’s “Undercover” series, Offset revealed that he and his groupmates, Quavo and Takeoff, did not find the sketch funny. “I’m gonna be honest. We didn’t like that skit because it was, like, total opposite of the Migos, like, we rock with each other,” he said.

He thought the skit portrayed them in a bad light. “And then I felt like it was interpreted like we was some dodo birds,” he added. “Like, making us go against each other. I didn’t really feel that. We weren’t really feeling that.”

While he was not a fan of “SNL,” he did enjoy Migos’ “Carpool Karaoke” episode with James Corden, which has over 32 million views on YouTube. “It was showcasing ourselves,” he said, adding, “I think we got the best one of them all.”

On Friday, Offset dropped his solo debut album Father of 4 featuring appearances from J. Cole, Cardi B, Travis Scott, 21 Savage, CeeLo Green, Quavo, Gucci Mane, and more.
