Lauryn Hill’s Son Zion Becomes a Father

Published: February 20, 2017

Lauryn Hill is a grandmother.

Nineteen years after dedicating “To Zion” from The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill to her son Zion, L. Boogie became a grandma when her first born welcomed his first child over the weekend.

Zion’s father Rohan Marley, who has five children with Lauryn, announced the news on Twitter, proudly holding his grandson, Zephaniah Nesta Marley. “JAH BLESSINGS ‘WE GIVE THANKS FOR LIFE Welcome to Earth Little ZEPHANIAH NESTA,” tweeted Rohan on Sunday (Feb. 19).

“In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thine hands be slack. #ZEPHANIAH,” added Rohan, referencing The Bible’s Zephaniah 3:16, according to BET.

Featuring Carlos Santana, “To Zion” is a standout from the Grammy-winning classic Miseducation LP. “Now the joy of my world is in Zion,” sang Hill in a moving dedication to her son. So far, Ms. Hill has not addressed her grandson’s birth.

Congratulations to Zion.
