Drake to Release Mixtape in January?

Is Drake working on a secret mixtape? It looks like the Canadian rapper has a new project dropping at the top of next year.

During his appearance on NBA TV (via Miss Info) on Tuesday, Toronto Raptors star DeMar DeRozan spilled the details about a new mixtape from October’s Very Own, who is the team’s global ambassador.

“I talked to [Drake] the other night, [he] actually said he wanted to give me his mixtape. It come out in January,” revealed DeRozan.

The rapper’s fourth album Views From the 6 is due next spring. Last month, he surprised with three new songs including “6 God,” “Heat of the Moment,” and “How Bout Now.”

Drake has not released a mixtape since his 2009 breakout So Far Gone, which spawned the singles “Best I Ever Had,” “Houstatlantavegas,” and “Successful” featuring Trey Songz and Lil Wayne.
