Music mogul JAY-Z‘s going to receive some big respect for his “Smile” anthem. New reports claim Young Hov’s personal family-based record is set to receive major props at the GLAAD Media Awards ceremony.

According to reports, Jigga’s 4:44 record is getting recognized for promoting a pro-lesbian and gay message.

JAY-Z will be given a “Special Recognition” award at this year’s GLAAD Media Awards, the annual ceremony held by the organization to honor “fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of the LGBTQ community and the issues that affect their lives.” The award is for his 4:44 song “Smile,” featuring his mother Gloria Carter. “Smile” marked the first time it was revealed that his mother was a lesbian, in the lines, “Mama had four kids, but she’s a lesbian/Had to pretend so long that she’s a thespian.” The GLAAD Media Awards take place April 12. Nominated for the Outstanding Music Artist award are Perfume Genius, St. Vincent, Kelela, and Kehlani. The films Call Me By Your Name and Lady Bird have been nominated as well. (Pitchfork)

The ceremony will go down both in Los Angeles on April 12 and in New York on May 5.

This year’s nominees include Freeform’s The Bold Type, the recently canceled One Mississippi, Hulu’s awards darling The Handmaid’s Tale, and genre shows like Sense8, Wynonna Earp, and FX’s Legion, which received a nomination for outstanding individual episode in a series without a regular LGBTQ character. On the movie side, Battle of the Sexes, Professor Marston and the Wonder Woman, and The Shape of Water also received nods. JAY-Z was also honored with a Special Recognition Award for the 4:44 song and music video “Smile,” in which his mother Gloria Carter came out as a lesbian. (Entertainment Weekly)

A few weeks ago, both music stars Lil Wayne and Beyoncé co-signed JAY’s “Family Feud” music video.

For the music video, JAY-Z secured a grip of Hollywood faces to star alongside himself, Bey and their daughter Blue Ivy.

In addition to the rapper, Beyoncé, and their daughter, Blue Ivy, actors including Thandie Newton, Jessica Chastain, David Oyelowo, Brie Larson and Mindy Kaling appear in various scenes of the project. Actress Susan Kelechi Watson appears to play a grown-up version of Blue, who, according to the story, has become one of “America’s founding mothers” and “revised the Constitution… at a time… when some thought that making America great meant making us afraid of each other.” (ABC News)
