Drake’s Secret Weapon Jorja Smith Locks In Long-Awaited Debut Release Date (Hint: It’s Kanye West’s B-Day)

OVO Sound boss Drake might be first in line when Lost & Found arrives this June. The hip-hop superstar’s More Life collaborator Jorja Smith‘s new album finally has a release date.

Heading into the weekend, Smith went to social media to announce her first LP’s drop date.

Earlier this week, Jorja slayed during her appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Last year, Jorja talked about linking up with Drake for their infectious “Get It Together” collaboration.

“He DM’ed me on Instagram,” Jorja revealed. “When I first heard it, I really liked it, but I was like, ‘I don’t know if I really want to do it,’ because I haven’t written it and it doesn’t relate to me. Then, sh*t happened in my life with boys and stuff and I was like this song is amazing and is actually what I’m going through. So I was like, ‘Hey Drake, is there still a space for me?’ And he said yes. So I recorded it in London and sent it over. He was like, ‘Sick.’ … I’m honestly so grateful for Drake letting me be a part of that album because I got opened up to so many people. I guess you would have found out about me eventually, but it was a bit of a push. It was just amazing for it to happen.” (Billboard)

A couple years ago, Jorja blessed fans with her Project 11 EP.

Back in December, the undeniably soulful songstress, who’s now got nearly 5m monthly listeners on Spotify, was named winner of the esteemed 2018 BRITs Critics’ Choice Award. She released one EP, titled Project 11, in 2016 and was featured on Drake’s More Life last year. Her buzz intensified with the release of HBO’s Insecure soundtrack, for which she contributed the first-rate “Fine Lines.” More recently, she delivered “I Am” for that massive Black Panther soundtrack.
