[With Justice League doing big numbers at the box office, some fans still haven’t had their superhero fix fulfilled. Netflix’s highly-anticipated The Punisher series has arrived and comes just in time for a binge-ready Thanksgiving break. SOHH correspondent Ryan Proctor gives his top five reasons this a must-watch!]
Frank Castle, vigilante justice at its finest. He’s back, and it’s violently glorious. If you have seen the second season of Daredevil, you know what Frank Castle is all about. We’ve been patiently awaiting his return to the Marvel Netflix Universe, and he’s back John Wick style.
I honestly don’t know of a better person to be portraying this character. We have seen him in many roles, and many seem to be type casted. But, Shane (Walking Dead reference) had to be the only person on this list to play Frank Castle. A match made in heaven this past year when he was revealed as the Punisher. The dark, vengeful, and mysterious Frank Castle just fit too well for Bernthal. And, I don’t know how many of you listen to Howard Stern, just listen to the man talk in his interviews. He’s perfect for this role.
We watched the Defenders pretty much DESTROY a major part of Manhattan, without Frank Castle’s help mind you. But, what’s next? If you remember right, Daredevil and the Punisher didn’t exactly see eye to eye on how to handle things in Hell’s Kitchen, will Daredevil make an appearance after hearing Frank is still up to his no mercy vigilante justice? The Punisher was one of the best parts of season two for Daredevil, maybe he can return the favor for the Punisher’s inaugural season.
Trust me when I say we are in for some serious violence when it comes to The Punisher. Blood, gore, gun fights will be at the forefront. And considering the type of villains The Punisher takes down, it is going to get crazy intense. Just imagine all those gun fights in the Matrix. Now throw in some blood. That’s the type of violence and action coming with this season of The Punisher.
We all know his family was murdered in the crossfire of a bunch of gangsters. But, how the hell did Frank Castle get all these damn skills? Comic book nerds know the answer to that question, but most people new to the game will see why Frank Castle is ruthless and relentless. There’s a rule most people follow, don’t mess with another man’s family. Frank Castle takes that to extremes, and will do whatever is necessary to make sure you don’t make that mistake again. He’s got nothing to lose since it’s all been taken from him in his eyes. If you kill him I’m sure he wouldn’t mind, because you’re going to be dead too.
I have high hopes for this season. Not going to lie to you, I was never really a HUGE Punisher fan, but after seeing how they are planning to work this season out, I can’t help but watch. Plus, if you’re really into all the Netflix Marvel Universe, this is a must watch. It’s pretty much comic book heroes this month. When more great content starts rolling around, I’ll make sure to get it out there for sure.
