Hello!

We are on holiday. Things are good. We hope the same is true for you.

We made another record before we went away. It is called Cities and was recorded by ourselves with the help of our friend Steve Bond.

We are more proud of it then anything else we have done. It is being sold in 78 Records in Perth or if you don't live there can be ordered over the internet from them here.

---------------------------------

Like all major tipping points in life, New Rules For Boats were conceived at

a pool table. That's where you reel in the big fish. When Sean Pollard

fielded a call from his sister Miranda asking him and his mates to form a

backing band for a single solo gig she had procured he was standing over a

medium table at the rear of Pot Black in North Perth, with one of said mates

- Joe Derwort. Joe, comfortably winning a one sided game as always, was up

for it. Sean called his other mate Ben Golby with whom Joe and Sean had been

filling a Leederville rehearsal room fortnightly as of late. For no reason

really, just to see. Golby was hesitant at first, but as is his disposition,

easily convincable. Joe potted the 8 ball and they wandered outside onto

Fitzgerald street chewing on Killer Pythons - with no idea that the

conversation they just had would dictate just about every weekend they would

have for the next 4 years. Hundreds of gigs and even more free beers. Who

could refuse?

Since that night New Rules For Boats have been pushing forward - trying to

create something that mirrors a mix between Bruce Springsteen and Kate Bush

- if such a thing can exist. Lyrics that make you listen again just to make

sure you heard right. A rhythm section with just enough urgency and

confrontational poise - like gentleman Jim Hird living on a main road. Grace

and courage juxtaposed with chaos and disorder. They've introduced another

of their best friends Dan Grant on bass - allowing Ben to shift to keys /

banjo. Dan's induction was again confirmed over a game of pocket billiards

on Fitzgerald. He's a gun.

Businesswise they've hit major radio stations all over the country with

their singles 'Skips On My Record' and 'Not Impressed' - taken from their 2

EP's (All At Sea & The Skips On My Record EP), played the Big Day Out and

Adelaide Fuse Festival and been nominated for numerous WAMI awards both

songwriting and instrumental.
