Hailing originally from Orange County, Jeff Niebaum and Tony McIntosh met through a mutual friend and started playing music together in 2000. Finding a common interest in Ani Difranco, Jeff and Tony bonded musically upon meeting. “It’s what started our relationship with the want, and now the need, to play music with one another” says Tony. Starting out with mostly covers and a few original songs that Jeff had written, they developed a friendship that has now turned into a brotherly bond. Influenced by bands like Ani Difranco, Dave Matthews, Pearl Jam and Bob Marley, the two planted roots in Los Angeles and formed the band Nevertree in 2003.

Having two of Tony’s brothers in the band originally sparked a lot of creative opportunities for the group and started their drive to perform their songs live to an audience of friends, and soon fans, in both Orange County and Los Angeles. A constant push for bigger and better venues required the group to write songs that would live up to the sound they started with.

In 2006, Nevertree released an EP entitled No Taking Back which included five original tracks. In October 2008, Nevertree will release its full length album titled Ebb & Flow. Produced by Dylan McLaren, and recorded at The Henson Studios in Hollywood, the band begins it’s journey up the Nevertree. The band writes well together and puts forth strong material as can be heard on their new album Ebb & Flow. “Recording an album is really an amazing process from beginning to end! The crazy thing is, we started with one thing and we finished with something way beyond what we had expected. Dylan was a major part in this process. Our initial song formulas were pretty simple when it came down to it. Dylan helped us take it to a whole other level, encouraging and guiding us to major improvements in the quality of the arrangement and vocal harmonies. Hearing the final product for the first time brought tears to my eyes! I am truly proud of what we have accomplished and hope that the people who listen to us enjoy the album as much as we enjoyed making it” Jeff answers to the question of how he felt hearing the completed result of the album.

Lyrically the songs are well crafted and well written. The new song material includes stories of loss, pain from past relationships, political turmoil, and a hope for change. The group anticipates the future being bright with its building fan base, bourgeoning catalogue, and new band members.

Nevertree is composed of its original members, Guitarist and Vocalist Jeff Niebaum; and Guitar, Weissenborn player and backing Vocalist Tony McIntosh; and new members Bassist Anthony Santinello (Santinello had replaced original Bassist and brother of Tony, Trevor McIntosh) and Electric Guitarist Peter Lobo. The bands new Drummer is Ryan Wollen (Wollen replaced former Drummer Drew Fenton, who departed the band to finish music school) rounds out the group. The band also is adding a Keys player to the lineup.
