NEVERSMILE

The NEVERSMILE band was born on the 1st of April in 2005. This was the first time, when four young men got together on the stage of a small club "Friday" in St. Petersburg to play a little set of songs. As spring and summer were passing by, the band members were perfecting their skills and overall improving sound and material, which in a year(in spring of 2006) formed five amazing songs for their debut EP "Milliards Minutes"

Before their first release, NEVERSMILE were playing here and there, taking part at random shows, festivals or warming up more "mature" bands making their way through the roots of russian rock scene.

The situation changed completely as the "Milliard Minutes" release started disappearing from the music stores, and the videos for "Milliard Minutes" and "Bez Mira" quickly appeared among the most popular and desired music videos on the A1 TV channel.

During band's first "Total Mosh Tour", NEVERSMILE played 15 shows across the country, which was the great achievement for such a young band. After some more time touring, the band sat down for recording their first full album. It took them 3 summer month to make the CD. The release was quickly noticed and recognized as quite a big deal in Russian alternative community, followed by rapidly increasing army of fans. The interesting fact is that guys didn't use any promotion or help from any managers. NEVERSMILE preferred to count only on themselves and did the best they could to make real music! They have done a wonderful job!



The band was touring without brakes for the whole year, making sure to reach all regions of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Estonia and Latvia. The band's performance on stage is a whole new topic for discussion!)) Starting from the very fist seconds of their set, band is getting a close, even intimate connection with public. It is noticeable, how passionately guys strike to put all they can into songs and performances.

Such active and even aggressive touring behavior of the band couldn't stay unnoticed. Various musical companies, labels and of course mass media were greatly interested in NEVERSMILE. As a result there are numerous interviews, articles and notes about the band in different magazines ("Bravo", "Rovesnik", "Night Out", "DFMO.Net", "Factory 52"; musicians took part in many TV programs on various channels (MTV, Stolica, NTV, TNT, A1, O2tv, Enter) and on the radio as well(Nashe Radio, Maximum, ORR, internet radios) Neversmile were not left out by internet users: blogs, myspace, forums, WebPages and interviews are spread all over the web.



The band got many positive comments and feedback on their music, success and future prospects. Proving that, the band got the prize "Debut of the year" of the Punkgazetka Awards in 2006. In 2007 the band was a nominee of RAMP Awards in the same category by alternative music channel A1. Nashe Radio and Radio Maximum, were also attracted to the band, and invited NEVERSMILE to take part in the festivals of alternative music "Nashi v gorode-6" and "Nashestvie 2007"



As the band was crossing the countries and performing, new songs had been composed. To bring some joy and happiness to the fans, while working on new record, NEVERSMILE decided to release a single "Cry, Baby!" in the September of 2007. As soon as the single went out, the band was in tour, rocking for month and a half, promoting the new record!

When crazy trips with shows were over, the band, finally "stops" and starts a serious work on the new full-lenth CD. However guys are still playing small gigs from time to time. The band is working hard, persistent, careful, taking every step in recording very seriously. The great bonus is the record studio "Dobrolet", which is famous for its' professional job with NEVERSMILE's favourite russian band TEQUILLAJAZZZ)))

The name of the new CD will be "Glianec & Plastik, Vivat!" ("Luster & Plastic, Viva!"). It is save to say, that overall level of composing, mastering, playing got much higher, deeper and more serious, due to numerous rehearsals and desire to perfect the sound. Lyrics of the new record mostly talk about environmental problems, weapons of mass destruction; about indifference of individuals, who care only about themselves, who are getting lost among magazines, glamour and luxury; about society of consumers and about other problems people usually don't notice these days!

Already from February of 2008, NEVERSMILE leaves St. Petersburg and starts its huge "Luster and Plastic, Viva!" tour, which will last till July and will envelop more than 60 cities in CIS,Baltic countries and Europe
