Hello, my name is Loren and I go by the alias
Native Beatz. I am of the Chehalis, and Cherokee Tribes. My mother was a very beautiful proud native woman, as for my father, I know he's of the Cherokee Tribe. But that's all I know of my father.
I was born in Tulsa Oklahoma and raised in Evansville Arkansas until the age of 8, then moved to Seattle Washington with my mother and my brother. Growing up I moved around a lot. I lived all over the Washington coast. For instance, I've lived in Seattle, Oakville (MY REZ), Olympia, Montesano, Humptulips, Ocean Shores, Aberdeen, and now back in Seattle.
Due to issues of being a single native woman, the pressures of being a full-time student at the UW, working, and raising two wild ass native boys' in the city, I could say my mother had it rough. As a result, I did most of my moving a round while in foster homes.
My brother and I at a young age were placed in white foster homes while my mother underwent treatment for drug abuse and later mental evaluations. While my mother was undergoing these treatments, trying to better her self so that she may get her kids back, my brother and I, were undergoing our own treatment…Becoming wards of the state.
Adjusting to the ways of the system; pardon me, the white system… my brother and I had a rough life also, moving from foster home to foster home. First being taken away from my mother, then my brother then my people and my culture, It was hard… it most defiantly was a struggle…
Growing up, one thing I am thankful for is having a beautiful native mother and having a mother that loved art. She was an artist; she painted, Drew, wove, beaded, and carved the traditional Northwest Coastal way… She is, and was art. She lived, and breathed art. To me she was the most beautiful art in this world and beyond… It was because of her the reason I am what and where I am today.
Growing up with an artistic mother, I had the chance to learn how to express myself through other ways, be it through Drawing, painting, carving, and music. While my mother would be creating we would be listening to music, it goes hand and hand. So I had the chance to listen all different types of music. For example, Fleetwood Mac, Credence Clear water revival(CCR), Cindy Lopper, Abba, Shear, Guns and roses, ACDC, Eric Clapton, Eagles, Neil Diamond, Jonny Cash, Boston, Sticks, Stevie Wonder, Kenny G, Madonna, Boy George, Red Bone, and many more. But soon after, my brother and I started getting her into our music…lol, like Motley Crew, Death Leopard, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Run DMC, Cool Crush, Tribe Called Quest, J Love and Kool G, Naughty by Nature, of course Tupac, Biggie Smalls…
Living with my mother in an artistic environment I became in love and enjoyed music. Growing up in foster care music became my escape from the world I lived in. I would always find myself tapping on my bed creating a beat, not to create music but to help me fall asleep. It made me, me. It helped me function in a since…lol.
Soon after junior high I got my own guitar, I got it for Christmas; it was from my mother, and so I taught myself how to play. After I learned how to play I started involving myself with others that had the same interests, Music… I played at my church, and in a couple punk rock bands… it was a learning experience… later I got this game for the playstation called MTV Music Generator, you could use the sample on the game and create your own beats/ music… at this time all my friends and I were in to a type of techno music called Drum and Bass… it was my first beat… a drum and bass beat…lol.
Moving on I got in to making rap beats for my friends. Growing up listening to all types of music but Rap music became my main interest. Soon after that I started investing in audio equipment, like a keyboard, a microphone, and recording software and hardware…. So I decided to go to college and learn more about audio production. So thanks to my auntie I found a school in Seattle called Art Institute. then i moved to seattle to persue collage at A.I.S
During my first quarter of schooling my mother had passed so I had dropped out. I decided to go back for the winter quarter and midway thru it i had learned that my cuz'n Markus fighting cancer at the age of 14 had passed. Soon after the funeral my other cuz'n Donnie had passed. So then again I had dropped out of my second quarter…
So after all the dust settled sort of speaking I decided invest in more studio equipment and to hit the streets in way of perusing my audio production career. I went to every show to net work with local rap artist, I made lots of friends. One thing I learned at A.I.S that has been real helpful is to net work, then instructors at A.I.S. pushed that in our heads like crazy…lol.
Continuing to network I saw this native rap artist on a magazine called Southwest Bound. His name was JSK. I reached to him in goal to try and work with some native artist. He introduced me to my brother Ant Loc. Hear my new brother ant loc spit I new we had to work together. Later, ant had hit me with the idea of help building our group savage family by joining. Soon I met my other brother Sycko. Together we would join together starting our group Savage Family.
I will be adding more soon
