Naeem Oba, revolutionary emcee,
was born in one of America's original housing projects, “The
Mississippi Courts” in North Minneapolis. As the son of a single
mother, with an abandoned federal prison in his backyard, Naeem found himself immersed in the struggles of inner city poverty from the
beginning. When Naeem was five, one of his mother's friends brought over a piece of vinyl titled The Message (Grandmaster Flash and the
Furious Five). From that moment on, every aspect of Naeem's life has been submerged in the hip-hop culture. At age 15, Naeem read The
Autobiography of Malcolm X (Alex Haley), which inspired him to begin
his life's journey as a revolutionary emcee. Today Naeem stands
prepared to begin his assault on Babylon as he translates the plight
and struggles of inner city youth in a colonial society. With his debut
LP, Unorthodox, in the works, based on George Orwell's classic novel,
1984, featuring production by a who's who of hip-hop's elite producers (!LLMiND, Jake One, DJ Khalil, NOTTZ, King Karnov & Khrysis) Naeem intends to put creativity back at the forefront of hip-hop music. Naeem's current projects include: "The Symbolism Mixtape" "The King and I" EP, "You Are Not One of Us" EP (Naeem Oba and BrikAbrak) and coming soon, Naeem Oba vs. King Karnov- "MPLS Joe"
