DJ FUNKY C

Cem Nadiran also known as DJ FUNKY ‘’C’’ was born in Istanbul Turkey February 9 1971 .Started elementary school in Istanbul and and continued his education in th USA . Moving to NJ with his family he and his 2 brothers Tarkan and Ceyhan were noticed to be very musically inclined . Taking part in most Turkish events at various venues the 3 brothers from NJ could dance sing and host various parties . Taking stage and performing infront of audiences was something that Cem came accustomed to very quick . Taking music lessons was something he was forced to do by his family .Being young and verry active , he had his heart set on becomming a soccer player as he would play for an amature league team At the time he was in a GT (gifted and talented) program at school for fine arts . With the ability to draw and paint , Funky was also very interested in gratffitti . Painting murals on walls and parks Funky was a grafitti artist as well . This is how he actually got his tag name DJ FUNKY ‘’C’’ . Making art work on walls and trains in the TriState area was rough at times . No one put their real name in their pieces , everyone had a tag name so they wouldn’t get cought and Cem chose to use FUNKY ‘’C’’ . Very popular in school because he used to make original clothing and art work for friends . .Leraning how to play the piano and the accordion by world champion Italian musician Mario Ballestra , was something he preffered not to do at the time , but now we see that it played a very important role in the becoming of DJ FUNKY ‘’C’’ .

By time he was in Juniou High his taste in music started to change as he began maturing . At the time Run DMC had just launched their first album Rock Box . Thats when he new that Hip Hop and RnB was the right thing for him . .Througout his time in Juniou High he had a very busy Schedule to go along with school .Folklore parctice on Mondays , football practice on Tuesday an Thursday ,and games throughout the weekend. At the time he used to tune in to various radio stations that would broadcast from NY such as 98.7 Kiss and WBLS . Weekend jams and special programs were his most favorite to listen to . He was influenced by names such as DJ RED ALERT – CHUCK CHiLL OUT and Marley Marl . Listening to these dj’s and hearing how they play and present their programs was something that he always wanted to do . Lucky for Cem his father was a real good music listener . He would buy records and hit music that would be a very goo archive for DJ FUNKY C to learn .Not only into music but also very interested in audio equipment , he always had Access to his fathers turntables and mixer .He met the Turntable and mixer at a very young age and practice makes perfect . Now he is one of the best known turtablist in Turkey. At the age of 16 ,Funkys parents decided to move back to Turkey for good .Just when things were happening and he started to play at school jams and private partys , he had to come to Istanbul and start all over again .The schooling system in Turkey was very different for him to addapt to ? he had a real hard time , and he also lost a year in High School .So he started Hotel Management and Tourism . He would goto scholl and work at 5 star hotel as a trainee . This wasnt enough .He started to play at various clubs in Istanbul at a very young age and was noticed by club owners ad party fans . Worked and DJ’ed at clubs such as Julianas – 29 – GARAGE Ist -Taksim Night Park he started to make a name for himself in a very big and over populated city . Private radios were the new thing in Turkey .They opened one after another . At the time , no one really knew how to be a DJ and Funky helped a lot of his friends with their demos to get work at these new radio stations . Funky was never really interested in being a radio DJ . He just wanted to spin his records . Later in 1993 POwer FM , organized a national DJ competition . This was perfect . This was his chance to show his skills on a higher level . With the concent and support of his parents Funky entered the competition wsth a demo . The demo went through .The the eliminations went well. THen became the 1st Turkish DJ Champion . AT the time he was working at the Sheraton Hotel And Towers . After becoming the Cahap he was offered a job to come work for POWER FM . He accepted this offer straight away and this was another new beginning for Funky . Working at the radio and producing shows , Funky became a regular on the radio . He also hosted shows like MTV DANCEFLOOR – SOUNDS OF THE NY UNDERGROUND – FUTURE HiTS – EUROCHART TOP 100 – CLUB CHECK NOKiA CHATZONE – PEPSI HOT MIX – COCA COLA SOUNDWAVE – DNR TOP 5AT5 and many ithers . A resident at Power FM he has been spinning since1993 . Due to his musical abilitys Funky also started to pruduce music aswell . .Not just dance music butstarted to join forces with influential hio hop names of Turkey .Appeared and featured on albums of artist like CEZA – SAGOPA KAJMER – AYBEN - FUCHS –FUAT – FRESH B- DESPO – KADIKOY ACIL – EMRE BARANSEL – SAYEDAR and many others . Taking stage with these names and keeping hip hop real is one of his most admired features . Taking his turntables fron Turkey all the way to Europe Representing Turkey at festivals and concerts abroad aswell .Splash Fest – MTV Hip Hop FEST – STIMMEN FEST SWTZR: - and many other festivals around the world .Aside from his hip hop projects he also has a dance music comcept. Appeared on the albums oh HUSEYIN KARADAYI and pop artists he made a name in the clubs with his extraordinary vocals. MY IMAGINATION – U DANCE FROM ISTANBUL – and MIRACLES ( an album produced and mixed by HUSEYIN KARADAYI & DJ FUNKY ‘’C’’) are albums you can hear Funky’s vocals and lyrics . Just completed projects with popular turkis names like DEMET AKALIN which he perforns on the song DANCE ET , GUNCE with her song AZAR AZAR and ZIYNET SALI – HOP HOP. World famous percussion artist BURHAN OCAL is another Project that FUnky is very proud of . Takisn the Turkish percussion to another level , performing with Burhan Ocal at different festivals and private partys . Now he continues his programs on POWER FM and will be releasing his first solo albul in the very near future . Funky also does all the interviews for his radio . He has interviews from various artist that are very important names in the music industry .
