Armed with an arsenal of instruments, Mythica takes listeners on a sonic rollercoaster ride. Whether it’s a funky Celtic jam, jaunty bluegrass tune, soulful ballad, or driving acoustic rock piece, Mythica’s songs are inventive but accessible, fresh yet familiar. Influenced by Irish, Scottish and World music, and by contemporary artists like Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, Simon and Garfunkel, and Led Zeppelin, Mythica’s sound is a melting pot of genres tied together with powerful vocals, addictive melodies, provocative lyrics, and interesting instrumentation. Mythica, led by award-winning songwriter Melissa Cox, tours nationally, with most bookings in the Mid-Atlantic and Colorado regions.

Since 2005, Mythica has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the Celtic, folk, and pop/rock markets, including the Spin Doctors, Sister Hazel, Black 47, the Makem Brothers, Celtic Crossroads, Tom Chapin, Young Dubliners, Catie Curtis, Maggie Sansone, and many others, and have appeared at some of the largest Celtic, folk and World festivals in the country. In 2008, lead singer Melissa Cox was awarded “Best Singer/Songwriter” by Spark Magazine and “Best Musical Folk Artist” by Delaware Division of the Arts. Cox was also a finalist in the 2004 National Song of the Year Contest for her tune “elijah, elijah.” To date, Mythica has self-published three critically-acclaimed albums: Dangerous Little Monster (4 song EP, 2006); Vicarious (9 song LP, 2007); and Live is Good (9 song live LP, 2009).
