PRESS REVIEWS
***Interview in December 2009 ACOUSTIC magazine***
"Emma Black's debut opus is both unusual and refreshing."
"STUNNINGLY HONEST SONGS.
Black is great when wallowing in the darker side of life, like on the brooding FLY, a remarkable duet with Gabriel Minnikin that plumbs the depths to find the beauty and the flickering candlelight of 6 o'Clock" Chris Long - BBC

"Emma Black's long dark tresses and pretty crystalline voice still doesn't prepare you for her soothing, hypnotic guitar work, which is fused with a folk outlook."MANCHESTER MUSIC

BIOGRAPHY
" Emma Black learned her craft as a busker in her hometown of Manchester, in the underground stations in London and in Amsterdam where she lived for a while.
After turning down a major record deal with her band The Immigrants in the mid-nineties she continued living on the edges of society, in a two-wheeled catering truck on Levenshulme common in Manchester, down the Llyn peninsular in Wales growing vegetables and on occasion, traveling the road. In that time she alternated music as a career with conservation work (something she still does) playing occasional intimate shows to initiates and converts around Europe rather than pursuing the mainstream. Over the next ten or so years, she built herself a loyal following who have stuck with the evolving sound and direction that led her to record her debut album in 2007 " Where Dark Horses Roam"Since her debut album was released, Emma has played four national tours in the Netherlands and performed across the UK. Over the years, Emma has opened up for a diverse range of acts including The Indigo Girls at the Boardwalk in Manchester.Salif Keetah at the Royal Court, LiverpoolHugh Masekla at The Grand Clapham.and more recently, The Zombies and Dr Feelgood in the Netherlands and Nancy Kerr and James Fagan in the UK
Recorded by Paul Hemming's (of The La's and The Lightning Seeds) and fellow band mate Anthony Haller in his kitchen in Chorlton, Manchester the evocatively titled Where Dark Horses Roam has been described in the press as melding Folk, blues and old time country The review by Chris Long at the BBC of the album simply described her material as 'stunningly honest'
With plans for further recordings and an extended touring circuit in the UK and further afield, Emma will be appearing live in advance of a return to the studio to record a new album in 2010"
