My Friend Other, gaining recognition in the New York music scene for their creatively spun pop/folk and energetic live performances, releases a 5-song journey into the music of songwriters Colin Summers and Alec Betterley. Filled with instantly catchy melodies and lyrics equally influenced by the writing of Shel Silverstein and the stream-of-consciousness style of Beat poetry, My Friend Other's songs draw from theatrical storytelling and revel in a sense of child-like wonder.

Entirely self-produced, The Tapir EP joins together tight production and song form while while exploring an unusual soundscape layered with fuzz, toy pianos, charango, melodica and the occasional set of jingle bells. Recorded mainly in bedrooms and living rooms, the songs of Tapir maintain a cozy familiarity in the midst of an expansive, meticulously detailed sound.

Childhood friends from the Albany, New York area and since relocated to Brooklyn, Colin and Alec have been playing to packed rooms at New York staples like Rockwood Music Hall, Bowery Poetry and Pete's Candy Store in addition to touring through Northeastern cities and maintaining a strong presence in their upstate hometown. Depending upon the evening, the live My Friend Other experience involves seeing a folk-style duo, an electric trio or the zany seven-piece Toys and Tiny Instruments ensemble, the latter of which Brooklyn blogger Pop Jew calls "one of the most engaging things I have seen . ever."
