MUTABILIS gig reviews:
"The last band of the evening was Northampton based four-piece Mutabilis. Their sound is pure rock n roll played with precision and wit from a band who have an impressive array of accolade to their name (playing a sold-out Royal Albert Hall and Live shows broadcast on BBC Radio 2 to name just a few). It was clear from the off why they have attracted such positive attention – first-rate material riddled with hook and catchy, sing a-long choruses, they gave a strong engaging performance that saw them quickly establish themselves as an audience favorite and as one of the bands to watch out for in this years Festival."

Mutabilis proved a strong end to an excellent evening of unsigned music. Cranking up the intensity in their performance, it made for an even more impressive set than their effort at The Rainbow, and this added kick of energy really benefited their already compelling Rock sound. Sitting nicely on the Pop side of Rock they’ve written some genuinely memorable and infectious tracks, which, thanks to some complex guitar work and substantial lyrics, also has real depth."

Northampton based four-piece Mutablis. Musically they have a modern spin on Classic-Rock n Roll – it’s a sharp, energetic sound that manages to be both progressive, letting the band show off some impressive layered guitars and winding solos, yet wholly accessible thanks to it’s upbeat Pop edge, seriously catchy riffs and powerful vocal hooks. Their strong sound is backed up by an impressive level of musicianship and a well-beyond-their-years level of showmanship – with the band delivering a tight, exciting performance that got the Barfly crowd clapping, dancing and singing along.

"Mutabilis are “ever changing”. No, it doesn’t mean the band aren’t indecisive about their stage wear. What they’re trying to say is don’t pin us down with your labels because next week – or more accurately next song – the label will be past its sell by date. As I watched their set, I was struggling to categorise them which, of course, is the whole point. Mutabilis refuse to be pigeon-holed, but their unique sound is tinged with some identifiable influences. Led Zep, the Doors, Hendrix, but that list doesn’t tell the whole story. Their biographies (is that a Scorsese film shot or what!?) quote a wide variety of favourite artists which must contribute to the rich flavour mix of their self-penned songs (although we had already sussed guitarist Tim as someone with a liking for a ‘bit of heavy’). Just when I was starting to think rock, they would surprise me with a change of mood or tempo."
