FinnScene Early - Synthpop: Musta Paraati



Despite not exactly synthpop, this band with a strong posthumous cult following deserves its place here in the context of whole early-80s Finnish postpunk scene.

Musta Paraati ("Black Parade") were a short-lived goth-rock band in the early/mid-80s who managed to release just two albums, Peilitalossa ("In The House Of Mirrors") and Käärmeet ("The Snakes") before splitting up around 1984. The CD release of 2001 compiles the original Peilitalossa album, the "Johtaja/Jää" ("The Leader/Ice") single and a few tracks from the Käärmeet album. [source: review by Mikko Salonen a.k.a. Prkl]



The original vocalist Jore Vastelin died in 1993. The other singers of Musta Paraati were General Njassa (just on the "Johtaja/Jää" single) and Epe Kronholm, who sings on the Käärmeet album.
