Nevin Thomas

Nevin Thomas, born Aug. 1, 1985 was exposed to music at a young age. His father was a music teacher and his mother played R&B and jazz all the time. Nevin quickly developed a love for music. Nevin has been influenced by such musicians as John Coltrane, J-Dilla, James Brown, Common, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, The Roots, and many more. Nevin began to play and create music in elementary school. He started playing the violin, clarinet and then the saxophone. During middle school Nevin played in the jazz band where he ended up being the section leader. After middle school he teamed up with a couple of high school friends and his cousin to form a hip hop group known as SRA (Soul Rock Affiliates). As the group’s DJ, Nevin would sit and watch as his friends produced beats on reason and write rhymes on the weekends. During high school Nevin realized that his perfect career would be around music and in the music industry. From Djing and being surrounded by music Nevin developed an ear for hearing music in a way that people can see the vision in it. That’s his goal, making music, building music and helping people’s vision be seen threw Engineering and music. Nevin has the kick of hip hop but the smoothness of jazz to make your music warm and clear but right in your face.
