Mudlarks

The mudlarks was founded in 2001 thanks to Michela (voice), Silvia (bass), matteo (drums) , Alessandro (guitar), Alice (guitar)At the beginning they starter to play covers of the X-ray spex, Avengers, penetration etc., and then created their own songs inspiring themselves to the ’77 punk rock music. Proof of this period is the first demo cd, which have been recorded in a simply way in October 2002 and it contains 7 songs (some sing in Italian, some in English) and 1 cover.
The band went on with concerts until July 2003, when they entered a studio for their first proper recording.
It dials with 4 songs with which the Mudlarks prepared the promo-cd called “Rock’n’roll war” in order to find out a label available for releasing it.In October 2003 The band also won the price “Best Punk demo 2003” at the meeting of the Indipent Labels in Faenza; the price was given by Punkadeka, one of the most important Italian underground webzines.
It was the Californian label “PUKE’N’VOMIT RECORDS” that decided to release the 7”EP, and after that label invited the band in California for a little tour of 7 gigs. The Mudlarks played there with the Dickies, Lurkers, Mad Parade and many more.
Subsequently the Californian tour , they decided to spend more time in their own studio for working on their first full length, and it was in that period they added the saxophone in the band and recorded inedit songs for "INNOCENCE IS BLISS" Compilation release for historic californian label DIONYSUS RECORDS.
However, in may 2005 michela left italy and the band didn’t play gigs for same months.So, before her departure, the band recorded 6 tracks, but when the singer come back the Mudlarks decided to remain definitely in four (for personal reasons).
The first gig with the new line-Up(Alice vocals & guitar) was in August 2005 at the “Venice rock Festival”, and in October the band play a little tour in Italy, Austria & Germany with the Neon maniacs.
After this tourneè, they decided to work firstly on the album, because, although many things had been changed, their first preoccupation was to do that.
Finally, in July2006 they recorded the full length at the “BLOCCO A” studio in Padova (thanks to Giulio favero, who is collaborator of the One dimensional man, super elastic bubble plastic e many more.)There, the Mudlarks recorded 10 songs: 7 were completely new, 3 had already benn recorded in april 2005 and only the voice had been recorded again.
The new album is released in Italy in February 2007 on GONNA PUKE REC (ITALY) & in JuNE 2007 in U.S.A. ON PUKE’N’VOMIT RECORDS .It 's was appreciated from critical music magazine worldwide.
From the beginning of 2007, the Mudlarks are touring for promoting the new album.
In september 2007Silvia left the band, Dino (ex oversight, ex vampires) play with Mudlarks french, german tour e some italian gigs and in september 2008 Mudlarks are split.
Ale and Madnuts still play with his Garagepunk project SUPER SEXY BOY 1986, but they split in october 2009.
Alice join in the Hormonas for few time, and now she write music for her self!.
More over, the Mudlarks have played with a great deal of bands in those years (also with the VIBRATORS,LURKERS,DICKIES, VICE SQUAD, RADIO REELERS,MAD PARADE,NEON MANIACS, THE PUT-ONS,BLACK LIPS & many more.)and performed in great rock'n'roll club like ROLLING STONE milano, LA GABBIA Bassano, SONIC BALLROOM koln, WHITE TRASH berlin, ALLEN THEATRE Los angeles, SHOWCASE THEATRE Corona and many more.

I Mudlarks nascono nel settembre del 2001 a Grisignano, un piccolo paese della provincia di Vicenza, grazie a MIKY-voce, ZILVIA- basso, MATTEO -(nuts) batteria, ALE-chitarra, ALICE-chitarra.
Da subito i 5 iniziano a interpretare pezzi di gruppi punk 77(X Ray Spex, Avengers, Penetration, ecc.), poi con il tempo arrivano a comporre canzoni proprie sempre ispirati dalle radici del punk!
Nell ottobre del 2003 esce RNR WAR ,(il secondo lavoro dopo un primo demo di 8 pezzi dellottobre 2002)un promo CD di 4 pezzi, grazie al quale nel novembre dello stesso anno vinceranno al M.E.I. il premio indetto da punkadeka.it premio punk demo 03.
Nel settembre 2004 l etichetta californiana PUKENVOMIT records stampa loro un EP in tiratura di 1.000 copie, le 4 canzoni contenute nel mini cd RnR WAR in formato 7 E sempre nello stesso mese presentano l EP con un mini tour di 7 date in California suonando in diversi locali come Showcase Theatre di Corona(U.S.A.), Allen Theatre di L.A.(U.S.A.) ecc. di supporto a gruppi locali e a band storiche come Dickies, Lurkers, Mad Parade, Neon Maniacs, Radio Reelers, Holly Tree e tanti altri!
Successivamente i Mudlarks iniziano a comporre nuove canzoni per il loro disco di debutto,tralasciando un po' l attivita' live, e concentrandosi in sala prove.
Ingaggiano un sassofonista, Mauro col quale registrano quasi subito un pezzo inedito Gimme some, che uscira come pezzo inedito sulla compilation "INNOCENCE IS BLISS” edita dalla storica etichetta californiana DiONYSUS RECORDS.
Nel giugno del 2005 , Miky decide di abbandonare il gruppo per motivi personali e i Mudlarks rimangono in Quattro.
Alla voce subentra Alice che prima ricopriva solo il ruolo di chitarrista, i Mudlarks decidono quindi di fare alcune date estive di rodaggio prima del tour Europeo di spalla ai Neon Maniacs, che per 10 giorni li ha visti calpestare i palchi dItalia, Germania e Austria.
Nel luglio 2006 entrano in studio, seguiti da Giulio Favero, per registrare il primo disco ononimo che è uscito in Italia per Gonna Puke nel marzo 2007 e negli States per Puke’n’vomit records nel giugno del 2007 CHE RICEVERA DALLA CRITICA DI SETTORE INNUMEREVOLI RECENSIONI PIU CHE POSITIVE.dal gennaio 2007 sono in tour per presentare il loro disco facendo anche concerti all estero.
>Nel settmbre 2007 cambio di line up, silvia decide di abbandonare il gruppo e i mudlarks ingaggiano dino (ex oversight , ex vampires)per continuare la loro avventura.dopo un tour a fine anno in francia e in germania iniziano il 2008 con l obbiettivo di concepire il nuovo album ma si sciolgono nel settembre 2008.
Madnuts e Ale continunano a suonare nel loro progetto gargaepunk, i SUPER SEXY BOY 1986 , sciolti anche quest ultimi solo nel ottobre 2009, e alice dopo una parentesi con gli Hormonas continua a incidere musica propria.
I Mudlarks Fino ad oggi hanno suonato in molti rinomati locali come Rolling Stone e Transilvania a Milano, la Gabbia di Bassano , Jam di Mestre, Il Covo di Bologna,SONIC BALLROOM koln, WHITE TRASH berlin e moltissimi altri ancora, dividendo il palco con tanti altri svariati gruppi, tra cui Vibrators, dickies ,mad parade,Lurkers, Vice Squad, Put-ons, S.t.p., Hormonas, John Woo, FFD,Klasse kriminale, Rotten Bo!s, Twinkles, Crooks, Valentines, tre allegri ragazzi morti, melt,black lips e moltissimi altri ancora.
