Alysha Alleyne has the distinction of being one of the only and by far the fastest female chanter in the Soca game.

Her sound is high energy, with strong messages that tell the truth about the lives of people in today’s society. She is the ghetto people’s chantwell who speaks for those who have no voice to tell their story.

Her style is neither hard-core flow nor straight melodic grooves; instead her musical niche is a hybrid of the two types of sounds that come from within her soul.

Growing up she was influenced by artists such as, Angie Angel, Super Cat and the Queen of the Pack herself, Patra! While tapes of early Hip Hop battles, where men like Slick Rick took no prisoners and laid all pretenders to rest, provided her with the vehicle through which she could make her own musical statement.

Given this background it is not a surprise that even now Alysha’s chants still have a Hip Hop flow to them, which is what probably gives her such an international appeal.

With such engaging lyrics and positive responses from the public it is not hard to understand her success with songs like “Not a Singer” and “Party”.

A purist when it comes to her music (she writes all her own lyrics), she sees the art of writing as a gift, as it is a way to say all she wants to say without offending anyone.

As a matter of fact, within the Soca industry she is recognized by her female counterparts for having honed this ability to a fine point. So much so, they continually come to her with ideas for songs that they do not feel at ease expressing, leaving them in Alysha’s very capable hands.

With her song “We Own De Road” having scorched the airwaves last season alongside Jookin Mih” on the “Gladiator Riddim” which was produced by Penn and Ace of 758 Slu Records, together with “Fresh and Clean”, produced by Mr. Roots out of Grenada of HomeBase Entertainment and “Stamina Man” on the “Mystic Blade Riddim”, produced by Madmen Productions in Trinidad, during 2008 Alysha has maintained her strong presence in the musical minds and hearts of all Caribbean listeners.

As for the Carnival 2K9 season she is releasing her first ever fully groovy tune with Peter Ram, by her side. The song called “Coming Down” is produced by Mr. Roots. But since she knows we can never have enough, you can also look out for her with her good friend Nadia Batson on the “Road Block Riddim” which was produced by Julio Nelson. As well as on the “Touch Up Riddim” produced by Terrance James, beside her partner in crime Michelle Sylvester.

There will be no stopping this creative force especially seeing as she now has the team of Question Mark Entertainment managing her. Who, by the way also manage Kees the Band, Maximus Dan and Rizon to name a few.

Through ups and downs Ms Alysha has stayed focused and down to earth about herself and her career. Always giving her fans not only what they want but also words that they need to hear. Carnival 2kwine seems just the time for this Trinbago culture star to truly shine.
