Ask R-kade what's his opinion on modern day hip-hop and a look of frustration forms on his face "The game is all out of prospective, in my opinion the last real glimpse of hip-hop died in that suburban on Wilshire and Fairfax" A surprising reply from the artist, who roots are of southern decent, during an era where crunk music has over run the south and many hip-hop activists' attempts to revive that pure hip hop sound have gone unnoticed. "I respect Atlanta and the exposure that Atl natives have brought down here but my goal is to show the world that the south is more then just 808 drums."

Born the only child on Fort Louise in Tacoma Wa, R-kade originally known as Ronald Brown bounced around from state to state alot during his youth R-kade moved to Texas in the fourth grade; which he still considers his original birthplace till this day "Yea Texas is home man, that's where I spent most of my life" R-kade states. The Lone Star State, often referred to as the Third Coast, tends to get more recognition for it's codiene syrup mix, rather then the artist it breeds. It was in Texas though, participating in freestyle cyphers, where R-kade first developed his witty style of flow. He Laughs, "I still got the first rhyme I ever wrote, it was garabage" He recalls. It wasnt until a short lived semester in college force him to pursue alternative options. Upon leaving Flordia A&M University and relocating to Muskegon MI he met Ernest Davis. "Meeting Ern was one of the best things that happened to me." R-kade shares. Ernest and Ron shared a common goal of obtaining music success. Being that Ernest had already achieved local success, as 1/2 of cuban connection, this would prove as a perfect opportunity. R-kade under went vigorous training honing his lyrics under Ernest before being introduced to Chilla; The CEO of Emag Records. Upon his solo debut on Emag Records a mild altercation occured ending his and Ernest's relationship with Emag for a short term. When asked to elborate on the situation, R-kade flashes a sly grin before declining comments, "We cool now and thats all that need to be known"

R-Kade, now currently lingering on the dawn of his solo debut on CROWN HEIGHTS ENTERTAINMENT, should prove promising in his effort to build a sturdy foundation throughout the void of hip-hop. Based on complex word play and mild mannered, yet catchy, punchline attributes. R-kade could prove to be a reminicent of hip-hop heavyweights, such as Rakim and KRS One, who've of late been a memory of the distant past. Though many of these claims may be considered as far fetch'd. R-kade has shown a potiental that no other current southern artist posseses. During a period where creativity lacks luster an indiviuality is almost non-exisent.
