David Reyero, a.k.a. Cubanix, is a deejay/producer based in Tampa, FL. This Rockford, IL native of Cuban and Honduran descent immersed himself in numerous genres of music at an early age, influenced by the various beats and rhythms of Latin, Soul, Hip Hop and R&B. His earliest memories of his musical journey began with listening to the legendary Kenny K. of 88.5 WMNF in Tampa. In 1985, one of David's closest friends exposed him to recorded cassette tapes from several Chicago radio shows featuring dance music. From the very first contagious beat, he was hooked.
David began his deejay career in 1992, when after experimenting with other forms of electronic music he found his true passion for underground house music. As his skills matured, 1998 marked his debut at " Jack's House" - Tampa's infamous Tuesday night house party at the Hyde Park Café hosted by resident DJ Jask. At that same time, David also spun at a pirate radio station, 106.1FM. He felt most at home in the studio, and it became his mission continue his exposure of house music through the airwaves.
After unrelenting persistence (and being turned away twice) David began his career hosting a local radio program, Our House Mix Show at 88.5FM, from 1999 to 2005. His concept was to broaden the Tampa Bay area's exposure to the house music scene – which proved to be an enormous success. During its six year run, David has played alongside various talented deejays including Brian Tappert, Jask, Sheldon Prince, Jeannie Hopper, Ray Coker, Chang, Tortured Soul, LTJ Bokem, The Pharcyde and the legendary Louie Vega.
David's progression throughout the years, crafting numerous re-mixes and originally produced tracks, has created singularly unique sounds appreciated locally and globally. In 2006, his track "Tantric Moments" was featured in the compilation CD, Tantra Lounge Volume 4, expanding his range into world, experimental and lounge, enabling him to further explore the depths and variations of music. Absorbing the global unification through the love of dance and rhythms, David will continue on his journey, making his stamp in the music industry as only he can – as Mr. Cubanix.
