Dexter - The Trip LP (Side B) / Melting Pot Music - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 19, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Have you every wondered what it is to take a trip on LSD sugar cube?

On April 19th, 1943 Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann ingested 25µg of lysergic acid diethyl amide in his laboratory. On his way home, Hofmann experienced the first LSD trip in history, while riding his bicycle. "I was affected by a remarkable restlessness, combined with a slight dizziness", Hofmann remembered. "At home I lay down and sank into a not unpleasant intoxicated-like condition, characterised by an extremely simulated imagination. In a dreamlike state, with eyes closed (I found the daylight to be unpleasantly glaring), I perceived an uninterrupted stream of fantastic pictures extraordinary shapes with intense, kaleidoscopic play of colors. After some two hours this condition faded away."

Today, April 19th is celebrated as "bicycle day" by fans of psychedelic drugs wordwide. In a strange coincidence, Dexter releases his new LP "The Trip" almost exactly on the 70th birthday of LSD culture. "The Trip" is an album inspired by the psychedelic rock movement and 60s counter culture in general. Think free love, fuzz guitars and Haight-Ashbury. Paisley shirts, patchouli, the Merry Pranksters, Topanga Canyon and the White Panther Party. Dexter is taking the listener on a trip down memory lane, to an era where pop culture per se was considered subversive and anti-establishment. Where records could become the soundtrack for a revolution.
