Mount Venus is een Antwerpse rock band met prog-, post- en stonerinvloeden die niet vies is van een melodieuze muur van geluid. Liefhebbers van het genre herkennen zeker invloeden als Porcupine Tree, Isis, A Perfect Circle, Motorpsycho,.
Mount Venus combineert al dit goede tot iets eigen dat soms zeer overweldigend en dan weer bloedmooi klinkt.
In de lente van 2007 vloeiden vier jonge muzikanten samen:
Roeland Picon Van de Wingard (bass/zang), Sam Goedhuys (gitaar/zang), Anthony Van Breda (gitaar/zang) en Joris Van Regemortel (drums).
Al snel ontstonden uit enkele jams volwaardige nummers, dewelke zonder veel franjes
werden opgenomen en uitgegeven als een self-titled demo die een jaar later op de Muzikantendag in AB werd uitgeroepen tot beste demo in de categorie rock.
Momenteel worden de opnames afgerond van een eerste album, waarmee Mount Venus definitief een stempel wil drukken op de Belgische rockscene.

Mount Venus trad reeds op als support act voor enkele bekende binnen- en buitenlandse
bands zoals Daturah, The Seven Mile Journey, Transit, Motek, Jenniferever, PG-Lost,
e.a. in concertzalen, jeugd- en cultuurcentra over heel Vlaanderen.
Ook live laat Mount Venus steeds een sterke indruk na en werd dan ook terecht geselecteerd voor de finale van FrappantPOP en opgenomen in 100% Puur.
"Mount Venus liet de jury met verstomming achter. De outro was verbluffend sterk en intens, maar ook alles wat de heren ervoor lieten horen was niets minder dan overtuigend.
De jury was het er grondig over eens dat dit viertal als een sterk geheel voor de dag kwam. Deze kerels spelen duidelijk de muziek die ze zelf graag horen en ze stralen dit ook uit."(juryrapport Frappantpop 2009)

Mount Venus is an alternative rock band, hailing from Antwerp, Belgium. They embrace prog, post and stoner rock while creating their own realm of overwhelming walls of sound and fairy tale soundscapes. Influences can be found in bands like Porcupine Tree, A Perfect Circle or Motorpsycho.
It was in the spring of 2007 that four musicians started jamming together: Roeland Picon Van de Wingard (vocals/bass), Sam Goedhuys (guitar/vocals), Anthony Van Breda (guitar/vocals) and Joris Van Regemortel (cymbals/drums). Jam sessions rapidly turned into mature songs, which were recorded and released as a self-titled demo album later that same year. This demo was selected as best one in the rock category on ‘the Muzikantendag’ in the Ancien Belgique in Brussels.

Mount Venus is currently finalizing the recordings of its first full-length album (due spring 2010), putting their definitive stamp on the Belgian alternative rock scene.
Mount Venus featured as support act for several national and international acts like a.o. Daturah, The Seven Mile Journey, Transit, Motek, Jenniferever and PG-Lost in concert halls and clubs around Belgium.

Mount Venus was selected by this jury to perform at the finals of the FrappantPoP rock concourse and was added to 100% Puur project (a group of Belgian government subsidised bands).
