BIOGRAPHY

Mortiferia was founded in early 2007. Prior to this, a band called Nèmesis was looking for members to fullfill their line-up. At the same time, some members of a black/folk metal band called Sectum were eager to start something on the symphonic front.

The ambisious musicians got together, and settled on the name Mortiferia. The line-up at that time consisted of Frøya Myrxdottir on vocals, Joakim Severinsen and Per Ivar «Nikki» Haugland handling the guitars, Herman Flaaten handling the bass, Kenneth Kristiansen pounding the drums, and Bård Thorstensen on the keyboards.

In July 2007, the band recorded their first EP at G.H Main Studio, containing 7 tracks.

In August 2007, Per Ivar left the band on the request of the other members, because of his lack of musical and social skills. Shortly after this, he contacted a lawyer and tried to sue the band unsuccsessfully. Most of the members of Sectum were also members of Mortiferia, so most of the Sectum songs were re-arranged and kept in Mortiferia in order to focus on one band only. The songs aren't used much in Mortiferia anymore, and a nostalgic Sectum album is in the making.

In February 2008, Joakim were dissatisfied with various things, and after weeks of discussion, everyone agreed that the best solution was to part ways with him. Joakim started a new band called Adyta, and some of the songs written by him were taken there.

The other members then started composing more music, and in April 2008, Steffen Siglevik joined as our guitar player replacement, only to leave again about a month afterwards. The band rehearsed with several guitar players, but none of them fit the bill. The band recorded a song called "Black Heart's Labyrinth" at Robin Ognedal's studio, who himself also played the guitar parts.

Afterwards, the search for a guitar replacement went on, until they finally found Joakim Nilgard.
