MOON CRESTA es una banda de lo que ellos denominan power & funk, estilo abierto y ecléctico que recupera los sonidos del rock y funk de los 70 sin dejar de sonar contemporáneo.
Manu "Doble L" (guitarra y coros), David "Mr. D." Vázquez (Teclados & voz), Kike "Calzonetti" (Bajo & voces), y Rubén Domínguez (Batería) completan una formación bregada por los escenarios de toda la península ibérica por los que presentaron, durante 2 intensos años de gira ininterrumpida, los temas de su doble álbum de debut (CD+DVD “eROCKtile dysFUNKtion SOULutions”).



Después de años intensos de trabajo, el rodaje de la banda ha sido fructífero y formativo. Han tocado por circuitos dispares que van desde el humilde aunque muy gratificante “gariteo” por distintas partes del estado, hasta festivales de gran relevancia junto a bandas y artistas de renombre. Así mismo han grabado varias demos y gozado de un importante reconocimiento en los círculos musicales “no oficiales”.
Lo que en su momento se presentó como una fórmula bajo el binomio power & funk, alcanza más significado si cabe en la nueva entrega de esta banda con más poder y groove que nunca. Aprovechando este exultante estado musical no es casualidad que para elaborar su segundo disco MOON CRESTA se asocie a una figura de la industria discográfica que parece estar omnipresente en muchos de los álbumes de artistas y grupos de mayor relevancia en las últimas décadas. El nombre de Sylvia Massy aparece junto a personalidades como la de Rick Rubin o George Drakoulias (productores de Rage Against the Machine, Kula Shaker, Audioslave, Jayhawks…), y bandas como Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Crowes, Skunk Anansie, Reef, Tool, Johnny Cash, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.
MOON CRESTA decide por tanto trasladarse a Weed, California (USA), a los RadioStar Studios, propiedad de la productora norteamericana, y trabajar en el nuevo proyecto: una sala de grabación emplazada en un teatro de principios de siglo XX, la misma mesa de mezclas empleada en el LP “The song remains the same” de Led Zeppelín, guitarras utilizadas en sesiones de ilustres de la historia del rock tales como Tom Petty o Johnny Cash, fueron algunos de los detalles que han hecho de esta producción una combinación de comodidades, medios y privilegios que contribuyen a convertir esta colección de canciones en una innegable muestra de calidad técnica, interpretativa y creativa.
“The sparkling radiostars & their lunatic orcresta” continúa en cierto modo la vena funk y rock del primer álbum del cuarteto, pero por otro lado, explora nuevos territorios expresivos tanto en la corriente más dura (“Burn”), como en la más emotiva (“Infatuation”, “Long way from home”), que hace del disco una obra que perfila toda una personalidad llena de matices dentro del carácter único de MOON CRESTA.

MOON CRESTA is the type of band they call Power & Funk, open and eclectic in style reviving 1970s rock and funk and also remaining contemporary.
Manu 'Doble L' (guitarist & backing vocals), David 'Mr. D.' Vázquez (keyboards & vocals), Kike 'Calzonetti' (bassist & backing vocals), and Rubén 'Assaulter' (drummer) are the members of a band that has slogged away on innumerable stages across Spain and Portugal during a 2 year tour playing the songs of their first album (CD+DVD) eROCKtile dysFUNKtion SOULutions
The power & funk formula developed by MOON CRESTA in their first album has become more energetic and full of groove in this new release than ever before. Making the most of this exultant musical stage, the band contacted a figure of the music industry that seems to be omnipresent in many of the records by the most important bands and artists during the last few decades. Sylvia Massy appears at the side of personalities such as Rick Rubin or George Drakoulias (producers of Rage Against the Machine, Kula Shaker, Audioslave, Jayhawks among others), and bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Crowes, Skunk Anansie, Reef, Tool, Johnny Cash, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers…
Therefore MOON CRESTA decided to move to Weed, California (USA), to the RadioStar Studios, owned by Sylvia Massy, and work on the new project. A theatre built in the 1920’s, the same Neve 8038 console that Led Zeppelin employed to mix their album The song remains the same, guitars played by rock icons like Johnny Cash or Tom Petty, are some of the gear, circumstances and conditions that make this record an undeniable sample of technical, interpretative and creative quality.
