It's damn time they give us a call by now!
Monster Joe will headline OpblaasPop 2009, 28th August. BE THERE!

Monster Joe was formed in 2000, when Steven (Stevil) and Joost (Sancho) decided the world could use a good hard rock band once again.

In Dries (The Dude) and Jeroen (The Bull) a worthy rhythm section was soon found and the adventure could begin.

The initial goal was to play Thin Lizzy covers, but soon some originals began bubbling to the surface.

The band started to evolve in more of a BLS, Pantera kind of direction, and recorded a demo-CD, “Salvation Through Liquor” that clearly shows the potential for mayhem in this ragged bunch.

Their love for classic “rock” couldn’t be suppressed though, and pretty soon the band was back to doing what they always loved best. HARD ROCK!

In the summer of 2005 recording began for the MCD “Meet Monster Joe”, which was released in October of the same year.

From then on, Monster Joe started gigging intensely, opening for acts like Raging Slab(US), American Dog(US), Backdraft(SWE) & Five Horse Johnson(US) or headlining shows in Holland, Belgium on their own strength and even winning the national Wacken Battle earning them a slot at …WACKEN OPEN AIR in Germany!

The reviews left to show they did leave quite a rockin’ impression!

Some examples:

This band was the metal battle winner from Belgium.

We got a tip from their sound technician that it was something we should check out.

And he was absolutely right! It turned out to be one of the festival’s absolute winners.

It was a rock band that perfectly fit the festival!

They were skilled, had a fine musical ensemble, and sounded awesome!

Some of the songs reminded of Thin Lizzy, and in the Wacken Open Air program booklet they were compared with some other old rock’n roll bands like Zeppelin and Purple.

It was a real shame that they only had half an hour, 11 in the morning on the WET stage.

We can only hope to see Monster Joe on the BIG STAGE next year! They deserve it!

This is a live band it should be reckoned with!

With the right kind of cocky rock it was up to Monster Joe from Belgium to open on the WET stage Friday morning.

They proved that with a healthy mix of 70s and 80s sounding Hard Rock you still can win a national metal battle and in that way get invited to play Wacken Open Air.

In an entertaining half hour Monster Joe captured the classic 80s Hard Rock fan and threw a great rock ‘n roll party in the style of SKID ROW meets RAINBOW.

Even at this early hour the mood was just right in the audience, especially the older metalheads got their freak on.

You could also tell that the Monster Joe lads had a lot of fun on stage and the singer added a great vibe in to the atmosphere with his lightly amusing lyrics.

The highlights of this show were the two closing songs “Summer Nights” & “Big Fat Juju”.

Friday, 11 o clock, W.E.T. Stage - an ungrateful hour for a concert.

Such was the luck of the draw this year for Belgian band Monster Joe, who won their country's edition of the Metal Battle.

The boys weren't faced with a capacity crowd during their set in the tent, but nevertheless a respectable number of musicfans had found the way to the stage.

The band showed them it was worth their while getting to the festivalgrounds this early.

The Belgians convinced in the Metal Battle with really good Rock n Roll and a singer with a voice that's halfway between Danko Jones and Tenacious D's Jack Black!
