Mon Electric Bijou is a Montreal-based rock and alt-country outfit, created in 2002 by Martin Saz.
2012 marks Mon Electric Bijou's 10th anniversary and also their 5th album release, Terror At The Gates. Taking as much influence from the British invasion-style rock of The Who and The Kinks as Guided By Voices and Gram Parsons, Mon Electric Bijou's songs combine melodicism and noise in fully distinct fashion.
Martin Saz, teamed up again with loyal partner in crime Christian Aubin (guitar & synth) for the third time around. The minimalist but swaggeristic rhythm section is assured by two newcomers, Joël Bertrand (bass) and Marc-André Godin (drums).
The band forwent the studio polish and complex arrangements this time around in order to capture the general feeling and subject matter of the album. As usual, Mon Electric Bijou's signature country/bluesy guitar sound is omnipresent throughout the record and as always, crafted with the precision of a master diamond cutter. The finished product reflects in high fidelity how much soul-searching went into this record.
