Influenced by The Jam, The Who, The Creation, Small Faces, and mostly The Action along with Syd's Pink Floyd, The Eyes and American Garage Punk; MOD FUN released 2 Singles ("I Am With You" and "Mary Goes Round"), 1 EP ("Hanging Round",) and 2 Albums ("Dorothy's Dream" on Cryptovision and "90 Wardour Street" on Midnight Records,) from '84 thru '87 before calling it quits (originally) in April of 1987 after a turbulent European tour that brought them thru Switzerland, Austria, and multiple stops in Germany and Italy.

Before this European tour and upon exiting highschool (1984,) the band headed west to California & was welcomed by the Mod Scene in San Diego and San Francisco with open arms. Los Angeles however, saw a near riot due to tensions between the LA "Rude Boy Skins" and SD's more "Psychedelic/60's" Mods at their debut "Cavern" show. This legendary gig was attended by Susanna Hoffs (Bangles) & Louis Gutterez (3 O'clock), among other infamous "Paisley Undergrounders." MOD FUN managed to escape the club that night and stayed in San Diego for another month that year playing up and down the coast frequently; returning again for a few weeks in '85 stopping along the way for many other gigs.

Although they toured Europe and the US three times, MOD FUN became mostly well known as the only mod-pop band based in the NYC garage revival of the early / mid -'80s. Other modish bands started to pop-up near the end of MOD FUN's near residence at The Dive (aka "Cavestomp Central"); but none seemed to even get the chance to quite immerse themselves in that scene and genre in the way MF did, as The Dive sadly closed down at it's height of popularity. After The Dive closed, a gig with the amazing NY act The Vipers at the legendary Peppermint Lounge was soon followed by a few sold-out headlining shows at Maxwells.

The CD collection "Past Forward" released by GET HIP in 1995 was reissued in 2004 and it encompasses most of their recorded output including some UK-only tracks that first appeared on Hi Lo Records LP "American Heart and Soul". Also included on the 20-track collection is unreleased material produced by legendary rock scribe Jim DeRogatis, and cover versions including tracks by The Zombies, The Kinks and The Syn.

In September of 2004, hot on the heels of what would've been their "20th anniversary" MOD FUN's live "reunion," went off without a hitch. The band headlined the "MODSBURY PARK" festival, (a 2-day "Garage/60's Freakout" on the shores of the Atlantic.) "MODSBURY 2" then took place in Fall '05, a few months after the reunited MOD FUN played their 2nd gig at the Philly Freekout (in Summer '05). The band has recently recorded a slew of new tracks for upcoming "tribute" cds as well as new original material (4 tracks!) and many rare covers. As of 2006 MOD FUN has played the following additional Cities: Nashville, Chicago, NYC (The Last Mod Night ever at CBGB!) and Baltimore as well as headlining the 3rd "Freek Out by the Shore" at the most successful "MODSBURY PARK" yet: dubbed "MP3"!!!! Up next a return to NYC, and more recordings leading us into 2007 !!! "Now And Again" was released in 2007 and continues to sell well on CD Baby and iTunes (see links to the left!) MOD FUN gigged throughout NJ & NY in 2008 and worked up many, many new originals so besides two gigs in Maryland kicking off 2009, MF will be back in the studio. . . stay tuned!!!
