For someone whose dream job for a day is being a lollypop man and who would gladly eat old toenails for money, you may be surprised to learn that Micah James Vincent is actually a half-decent singer/songwriter.

The Vincent Children were brought into production around 1895. By the time they got to Micah, the eighth child, youd have thought they were running a little low on ideas. But in fact, this one has a spark of originality about him; quite a big spark, a threatening blaze if you will.

His music is reminiscent and influenced by people such as Foy Vance (http://www.myspace.com/foyvance), Steve Vincent (did I say original?http://www.stevevincent.net), Stephen Fretwell, John Mayer, Damien Rice and lesser-known artiste CJB.

Allow me to level with you and be honest. There are many, many solo acts like Micah out there. How much can one man with a guitar do to warrant so many incarnations? Well, the answer is a lot. The rawness of acoustic music in general is a perfect medium for any songwriter, but more specifically, Micah J Vincent displays how such a musician can distil a multitude of influences and sounds into what is in fact a very particular, impressive array of songs and music: music which doesnt get tired, music which is personal, evocative and sensitively executed whether hes playing to you in his living room or in front of an appreciating crowd.

Micah was born on the 10th March 1988. In his early childhood he attended one of the smallest primary schools in Northern Ireland, had a stream-lined bowl haircut, an imaginary friend named Bandalore and he collected coins and stamps. What a guy.

He continued on this clear path to stardom and coolness and in 2004 Micah formed a band, memorably named The Wonderful Tog. The band was a slap-dash affair, throwing together whole set-pieces for gigs in the space of a few hours (they even made an EP, still available at car-boot sales).

The future? Is there one? Of course. I think I know him well enough to assume that hell be writing songs and playing for many years to come. So, sit back and enjoy it!
