Mio began her piano, vocal lessons, and dance training at the age of five. Her vocal coaches: Jimmy Justice (for Broadway Plays), Soprano Ivone Haza, & Tenor Sanchez Cestero (Opera), and Gospel, Rhythm & Blues with Reggie Segars. Her acting instructors: Susan Rybin & Harry Gahynor. She’s performed and recorded with various artists such as Marc Anthony, Celia Cruz, Wilfrido Vargas, and the New York Band among others.
She’s traveled over 20 countries, and recorded on 5 top selling albums. She’s sung in Canada, Spain, Japan, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Canary Islands, Aruba, Curacao, France, Venezuela, Ecuador, Panama, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. She performs in Spanish, English, and even Japanese R&B, Pop, Soul, and Dance music, as well as Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Tex-Mex, Rancheras, and Pop Ballads demonstrating her innate diversity on stage.
She debuted as producer of her first CD as a solo artist; ’Hazme Soar’ (Make me dream), it contains an eclectic array of Tex-Mex and Pop-Ballads and is distributed internationally by BMG. She graduated with honors from the City University of New York, achieving a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Arts & Media, and began to produce her second solo album. She is truly an example for the young generation! MioSotis was the first female Latin artist to perform the National Anthem at Yankee Stadium; it was in honor of the well-known Ballplayer and Humanitarian, Roberto Clemente. That same year her second album was released: Miosotis. Nace una Estrella which immediately reached sales over 50,000 units upon its release date, due to the already popular Salsa Hit: Senora!



She then received her first Ace Award for Best Female Singer in the Tropical Music Category! And consequently, recieved a contract to perform a concert series with Goya Foods for the Hispanic Heritage Pride Parades and Festival months. Also the European film companies: Ciby 2000 and Milan/BMG recruited her to record the songs: "Amame" and "Amor es Eso" as theme songs for the French film "La femme du Cosmonaut" (The Astronauts Wife), played by the known Spanish Actress, Victoria Abril. MioSotis traveled to Paris, France to film the music video of the movie’s theme song and went on a promotional tour throughout France and Spain for the premiere of the movie and soundtrack album.
Moreover, MioSotis is also on a Children’s Benefit Campaign, she gives back to the community by often sharing her time with children who need guidance. She’s performed at the Queens Lighthouse School for Blind Children, the Marble Hill Nursery School and has joined other renowned Artists in Campaigns to raise funds for the deprived children of third world countries. Her 3rd album entitled: MIOSOTIS.Ardiente was released for the new millennium and received a Latin Globe award for best female salsa album!
She recently performed along with various artists such as Elvis Crespo, Fernando Villalona, and Mili Quezada, among others for the closing of the renowned Copacabana of 57th street in NYC. The recording of the live CD is entitled: 60 aos de historia (60 years of history). It’s now on sale all over the US, South America and the Caribbean!
She’s performed in arenas such as Madison Square Garden (NYC), La Plaza de toro (Spain), La Feria de Cali (Colombia), Miami’s famous annual festivals Calle Ocho and CAC Flamingo Fest among many more. Last year she was even made Queen of the later festival! And April 21st was proclaimed by the mayor and city of Hialeah as MioSotis Day!
This year, has come full of many surprises! Not only was she made the co-host of LTV’s popular variety show: Viva el Pueblo (Transmitted Sunday nights at 8pm, and Tuesday & Thursdays on QPTV); she’s bringing to life her newest creation, a new Children’s Television show called: CHIQUI MUNDO that will begin airing on LTV this summer! Also she’s now performing with the exquisite Latin Jazz sound of two time Grammy Award winner, Horacio "Negro" Hernandez! She and the extraordinary flute guru and also Grammy Award winner, Dave Valentine, performed as special guest stars for EL Negro & Robby Band at the Tokyo BlueNote in Japan this April, beginning with this performance an 8 month world tour!
Further, she’s been recruited a second time by a popular European film company based out of France, Italy and Spain, not only to sing the theme song of an upcoming Movie as she did the first time with Ciby 2000 and Milan/BMG for the French Movie: "La femme du Cosmonaut, but in the capacity of actress! That’s right, she’s also doing a movie!
