Mike Ottis studierte Musik - Saxofon und Klavier – am Wiener Jazzkonservatorium.
Mit seiner Band „plim" erlangte der 1983 den Popodrom-Sieg.
1993 gründete er die Band „Blowjob", komponierte und produzierte gleichzeitig
das Album „Think big". Danach folgten zwei soulig-jazzige Soloalben als „Mike Ottis Projekt".
Mit „Cyperforce" – „Get on board", „Jump" gelang ihm die Platzierung in den Charts.
1999-2003 war er als Produzent von Signations und Talkovers mit Eberhard Forcher bei Ö3, FM4 und Radio Wien tätig. Komposition und Produktion für Künstlern wie Phil Edwards, Grissemann&Stermann, Hubertus v. Hohenlohe, Rudi Nemecek, Peter Duke, Pat Garett, Betty S, KSL, Shine, Nadeen Holoway, Milagos, Daisy Joplin oder Mimi.
2002-2003 produziert er gemeinsam mit Franz Bodi das Album „Century Transfer – jazzige Meditationen", eine Bearbeitung von klassischen Werken für Saxofon & Gitarre.
Mit dem Projekt „triosphere" (Ottis: Saxofon, Bodi: Guitar, Frodl: Cello) zeichnete er 2004 sich für die Einspielung zu Franz Nowotnys Film „yu" verantwortlich.2006 die cd Concerto , conversation about classic & jazz mit der japanischen pianistin Megumi Otsuka.2007 Mike ottis Project live & birdland.
Sein letztes Projekt war die Musik zu einem Film über die Mongolei, „Land of Nomads", produziert von der 3-Mediagroup Peking. Zur Zeit arbeitet er an einer weiteren Solo-CD: „Metrosonic Funk",und finalisierte gerade die cd mike ottis&friends x-mas moods
Mike Ottis studied music - saxofon and piano - at the Viennese jazz conservatoire. With his band "plim" he was the winner of the Popodrom competition in 1983. He set up the band "Blowjob", composed and produced at the same time the album "Think big".
Two solo albums as "Mike Ottis Project" followed. With "Cyperforce"- "Get on board", "Jump" the placement in the Charts succeeded to him.
Between them he was active some years as producer of Signations and Talkovers with Eberhard Forcher with Ö3, FM4 and radio Vienna. Together with Franz Brodi he produced the album "Century Tansfer-jazzige Meditationen", a treatment of classical works for Saxofon and guitar between 2002 and 2003.
2004 With the project "triosphere " (Mike Ottis: saxofon, Franz Brodi: guitar, Frodl: cello) he was responsible for bringing in to Franz Nowotnys film "yu". 2006 concerto conversation about classic& jazz with the Japanese pianist megumi otsuka.Besides Mike Ottis produces different advertisement e.g. for Smart, Golden Quick, Presse, m-line.
At present he works to its 3. Solo CD "metrosonic funk",and and finish now the album mike ottis&friends x-mas moods
