[STREETVOICE MAGAZINE]

MIDWEZT - It Aint Just Country Live EP: I haven't heard any new music from this alternative country band in a while so this was a much welcome release. I think the lack of drums take something away from this six track release but aside from that you can't complain about the quality of musicianship on here. For a live recording the band have got it spot on with some wicked vocals from Charlie Armitage. Mick Davison and Mirko Muneratti work well together as guitarists and they play some right good chords on this release. Bassist Eddie Duff delivers some great bass work throughout this sessions too! Midwezt break the rules with their country sound but when they're delivering good songs such as 'Why Should I Worry', 'Through You' and 'Beggin For Kindness' who cares? Certainly a band worth tracking down if you're after something a little different. 7.5/10

From the moment Midwezt took to the stage, there was no sound other then their music and the cheers of the crowd as they carried off perfectly pitched harmonies that flowed throughout the smoothest and most uplifting set i have ever heard them play
The band were certainly on form on this evening, and the venue was soon filled with a happy,foot-tapping throng where cheers and smiles were abundant
The highlight for me was "THROUGH YOU" which epitomises their potential as a band, and also aptly embodies the essence of charlie's voice
After a sad time last year when charlie's house was burgled and their recording money was taken,it was exciting, not only to see the band playing so well but also to know that they are now entering the recording studio to put together their new E.P
Midwezt are constantly evolving and fine tuning their sound

We are now enjoying some great feedback on our new all acoustic sound which inspires and excites us and we hope it dose the same for you

Midwezt closed their set with another song that particularly emphasizes their guitar mastery and songwriting prowess.Leaving us all with some especially magical departure notes,Charlie sang "where will i be"? Time will tell, but in july they are back in america, and if they keep this up they have every reason to look forward to the future.

Its been awhile coming but finally Midwezt have released their new extended player, just acouple of tracks short of a long player and i have to say its damned"good
,.
What we have is six track live E.P 'for financial reasons they chose to record live but not in the sense of live infront of an audience but going back to basics and playing the song start to finish one take job done,no overdubs no multitracking just straight as it was playing in the studio

The opening track [WHY SHOULD I WORRY] grabs your attention right from the start and from then on its a joyous ride all the way to the end, theres no drummer but you wouldn't have noticed ,the sound is all there Midwezt fill everything in with there four part harmonies,
,.
Mirkos intricate lead guitar work a cross between american country and dire straits.
Mick davison flawlessly belts out the rhythm whilst Eddy duff at the back holds it all together with his understated bass lines,
Then theres charlie armitage who writes all the songs with mick ,The enthusiasm shines through in her vocals you can hear that shes having a great time

THE NEW E.P IS STUCK VERY FIRMLY ON MY PERSONAL PLAYLIST ,IT'LL BE A COLD DAY IN HELL BEFORE I TIRE OF IT.
