BIOGRAPHY
"The first time that I have had to do with Reggae Music is more or less in 89' /90'.Remember that the first song that I listened to was Jammin' by Bob Marley: That was like an awakening from a sleep, and I had the feeling as to found what I looked for ".

This way it has beginning the artistic and spiritual history of Michele Belvito, now known as "Micky Souljahr".
From that moment Reggae music has been the source of teachings and inspirations that must be cultivated day by day .

Born in June 1976 in Foggia, South Italy, at the time as a school children he remembers: "I was not a student model, I would rather to stay with friends in the borough, listen to the music, Reggae obviously, to smoke the first ones "spliffs", to explore the life, some times also harshly, in a city of South Italy that doesn't have much to offer. Thanks to Jah however, we had the possibility to focus our life on other objectives, on values transmitted us by the music that we listened, more and more attentively."

In the meanwhile Micky takes little by little confidence with the music, with the Instruments and singing, playing the songs of Marley and other artists.
The musical and spiritual run are grown of equal footstep. He starts to study more attentively the lyrics of Marley, and he realize that in his words Bob speaks of the Bible, of Haile Selassie I. That has been the passage that has pushed him to cultivate the Rastafari faith.

Is by now the '95, and Micky starts to delineate a structure of the band called Jah Children (name that however had brief life).

In the first months of the '96 the band took the name DREAD INA BABYLON!

This way, little by little, the Band starts to acquiring the first ones but many succes.

On the beginning of the '98, the band starts to lose the first members, and to meet the first difficulties. The keyboardist are scarce, and hit of grace also the Drummer quit the Band to follow his job business. So also Micky, approves the situation of stalemate, decides to move himself to Rome.

In fact the Roman experience is a lot of impact. Micky gain a greater experience in the Reggae circuit and starts to focus himself to the creation of his own songs, and to collaborate with some musicians of the Roman scene.

Then arrives '99 and DREAD INA BABYLON were: Micky (Voice and gtr), Pino "Mosyah" Loi (gtr), Federico Belvito(Micky's Brother) (gtr), Ras John (bass), a new entry to the drum Alex Lo Storto, the percussionist and choirs Guerrilla Man, to the choirs Michele Tancredi and after many attempts without succeeded, finally the keyboardist Giuseppe "Legend" Leccese and more keyboards Angelo "Babaprofessor" Caponi.

The guys finally enters in the recording studio for their first Album entitled "Dread ina Babylon".
And so we find D.I.B. again around to Italy to promote the Cd, promotion that brings the guys from Rome to Sicily, (also having consents from France and England) up to the 2000 Rototom Sunsplash, the most important Reggae Festival in Europe (repeated experience also in the editions of the '2k1 and '2k2), to the tim tour 2k1 (introduced by Red Ronnie), Arezzo Wave 2k1, and to touch the most representative cities and festival of the Italian Reggae circuit from 2000 to 2002.
Soon D.I.B. became one of the most famous Reggae Band of the mid 90' of the Italian scene, mostly appreciated for the quality of their councios lirycs and the quality of their Roots Reggae that has never been listened before by an Italian Reggae Band.

In 2002, Micky starts to work to the recording of some new tunes that see the collaboration of other musicians as the Jazz Bass player Nicola Scagliozzi, the already known Singer Ras Hobo from Naples, the Afro-American DJ Freddy G, at Saxophone Biagio Piemontese and the guitarist Ricky "Dread" Annolfi.

The first single as "Micky Souljahr" is Jah Soldier, published in 2003, job that also sees Micky as producer for his own Label "Soul Records".
The job with Dread ina Babylon goes decreasing little by little, and Micky totally focused on his new project.

The new single, vinyl 7" inch, printed in January 2007 in Kingston, Jamaica, and distributed in U.S., Europe and Japan by One Love Distribution INTL, side A: True Teaching (tune that give the title to the album) and side B: Babylon is Fallin' (feat. Freddy G), it anticipate the album, out on May 2007 distributed by Good Fellas and published by Satta Records. At the moment Micky is working on his new Album, so stay tuned for any news!
