Michales Hadjiyannis was born in Nicosia, although his family comes from Keryneia. He is a graduate of the Cyprus Music Academy (Royal College of London) with a degree in piano, guitar and music theory.

At a very young age he started his career in Cyprus with three records that all went platinum.

In May of 1998 he represented Cyprus in the Eurovision song contest. He had an excellent performance interpreting the song Genesis, a composition of his own.

Later in Athens, he collaborates with the composer Yiorgos Hadjinassios and the lyricist poet Michales Bourboulis to create the album Agigma Psychis (Touch of Soul), which was released in December 1998 (containing music pieces and songs for the TV series bearing the same title) and soon went platinum. The two songs that stand out are Agigma Psychis and To Soma pou Zitas (The Body You seek).

In March of 2000 he releases his first solo album with the title Paraxeni Giorti (Strange Celebration). Important composers and lyricists contributed to the making of this album, which was to produce some of the biggest hits of that year. The song Mono Sta Oneira (Only in Dreams) stayed at No 1 in the Greek radio airplay for several weeks, while two other songs of the same album, Paraxeni Giorti and Kai tha Chatho (Ill disappear), had similar success.

This album went double-platinum and became a career landmark for the young singer-songwriter in the Greek music scene.

In November of the same year, he starts his live shows in Athens with big success.

Early in 2001 he released the cd single Den Echo Chrono (I Have No Time, lyrics by Mariannina Kriezi, and music by M. Hadjiyannis). It soon reached the top of the charts and went platinum. Later, in the same year, he appears live with the great Greek singer Haroula Alexiou with big success.

In the summer, he tours Greece for the first time.

In the spring of 2002 he released his second solo album Kryfo Fili (Secret Kiss), which today has gone triple-platinum. Michales composed most of the songs in it, while the lyrics were written by Eleni Zioga, Eleana Vrachali, Mariannina Kriezi and others. This album contains a series of big hits such as Eisai Edo (You Are Here) To S Agapo (I Love You), Choris Anapnoi (Breathless), I Ekdromi (Excursion), Kapnos (Smoke) and others.

This album, which underlines Michales creative talent, established him as a successful singer-songwriter and a promising performer in the Greek music scene. In the summer 2002 he tours Greece once more with even greater success, while in winter he shares the same stage with another great Greek singer Demetra Galani.

In 2003 he released Monos Mou (All Alone), an E.P. containing five songs, which became triple platinum. One of the songs, An Mou Tilephonouses (If You Called) became a hit and the demand for strong airplay kept growing for months. In the summer of 2003 he toured all over Greece appearing in 63 sold out shows.

In the winter 2004, he continued his live shows both in Athens and in Saloniki with great success.

He received 3 awards in the official Greek music awards in 2003 and 4 in 2004, including the award for the best male performer of the year.

In April 2004 , Michales Hatdjiyannis, released his third -much awaited- solo record, Akatalili Skini, which is expected to boost his carrier even more and increase his popularity in the Greek music scene.

On April 30th 2004, Michalis represented Cyprus at the official enlargement ceremony which took place in Warsaw, to mark the accession of 10 new countries in the EU.

In summer 2004 he tours through Greece and Cyprus. Another highlight was his appearance during the opening and closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Athens 2004. In winter 04/05 he appears together with Paschalis Terzis in Athens and Thessaloniki. The program is the most successful one of the season.

The tour in summer 2005 with 30 sold-out concerts and a highlight at the end of the tour in Lykabettos theater in Athens on two sold-out days was broadcasted live. In October 2005 he gave his first concert in Australia. In this year, too, he dominated the winter season with his appearance toghether with Antonis Remos.

His new live album appeared in March 2006 (double CD with a DVD from his summer concert in Athens) and three new songs "Den Fevgo" (I don't go), "Den eimai edo gia Kanenan" (I am there for no one) and "Miazoumai" (we are similar), which were successful at one. The DVD contains excerpts from the concert, backstage short-takes and several photos.

7For the second time in his carrerr he worked together with Georgios Dalares and gave concerts in the USA and Canada in March.

The colaboration with Natascha Theodoridou leads to an appearance together in Thessaloniki May 2006.

Summer 2006 is dominated by a great tour through Greece with over 50 sold-out concerts. At the same time in August his new single "Ola i Tipota" (all or nothing) appears and receives double-platin instantly. In December 2006 he publishes his forth album "Fili kai Ekthri" (friends and foes) which receives three times platin. At the same time he sings in Athens. His fans queue for hours to get a ticket.
