MEMOIRS

When you imagine a band called “Memoirs,” death metal is probably the last genre you would associate them with. Well, it’s not the first time a band name has been misleading, nor will it be the last. With a sound that combines the brutality of death metal with the heaviest metalcore grooves you can imagine, Memoirs has been spreading the evil across the unsuspecting denizens of San Jose for a while now, and this summer are looking to infect the southern parts of the state. As you listen to the tracks that comprise their Des Morts EP, currently available through Dead Royalty Records, you’ll find the crushing grooves impossible to ignore, the heaviness unrelenting, until you complete give yourself over to the sound. Drummer Juan and bassist Tony hammer out the thundering rhythms while guitarist Jimmy wreaks havoc up and down the fretboard. On top of it all, vocalist Nathan screams, growls, spits, and vomits forth all kinds of bowel-vibrating evil. With a full-length beatdown currently in the works, it won’t be long before Memoirs leaves a big fat bootprint on the face of the NorCal metal scene.
