An true Australian pop Goddess, Melissa made her debut in 1991 with her single Read My Lips which launched from her starring role in E Street in 1990. It debuted at 1 on the Australian charts. The follow up single Sexy (Is The Word) debuted at 3 and achieved Gold status. Melissa received two ARIA Awards (Australian Recording Industry Association) for her debut album, Fresh which achieved Platinum sales status in Australia as well as a logie nomination for best new talent.
