Actually she is the only female producer so far that was able to convince the German rap scene with her professional production techniques and an unmistakable style of her own. Her fans call her the „Queen Of Beats“, as she can look back on some incredible hit records in her catalogue. The readers of Europe's most important hiphop magazine JUICE have been crowning her the most popular hiphop producer for many years. Critics, fans and artists love her indivual, original and innovative sound. Her creativity sets her apart from most other beatsmiths in Germany and Europe. She doesn't stoop to copying other producers or simply trying to imitate trends from the United States. Being driven by her boundless curiosity, she tries to make something new and original every time she touches the MPC. And this is what makes a „Melbeat“ so special and recognizable among the millions of boring hiphop beats. In 2008, Melbeatz is on top of her game.



Even her story has its humble beginnings. In 1996, her longtime musical partner, the German „King Of Rap“ Kool Savas, gave her a present that should change her life: The MPC 2000 opened her eyes to the dimensions of professional beatmaking. Mels curiosity grows the more she works into the matter. Only some time later, people start discovering her musical talent. After only one year of producing beats, she gets first placements on compilations and mixtapes. Her artistical development doesn't remain a secret to the German hiphop community: When her crew M.O.R. („Masters Of Rap“) gets a lot of hype and support in the scene in 2001, Melbeatz finds her productions in the German sales charts for the first time through the releases „NLP“ by M.O.R. and „Haus & Boot“ by Kool Savas. In 2002, Kool Savas founds his own label Optik Records under the wings of major record company Sony BMG – and his first signing is Melbeatz.



After producing the entire German rap classic „Der beste Tag meines Lebens“ („The best day in my life“) by Kool Savas which entered the album charts at 6, the readers of JUICE magazine elect her the second most important hiphop producer in Germany. In 2004 she releases her debut album „Rappers Delight“ on which she features some elite rap and R&B artists from both her home country (Kool Savas, Xavier Naidoo, Jan Delay, Azad) and the US (Kanye West, Mobb Deep, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Thirstin Howl, Tha Alkaholiks, Graph). On the single „OK“ she manages to bring two of the most important German rappers together who were rumored to be beefing at the time – Kool Savas and Samy Deluxe. Finally the 1 spot at the JUICE awards is hers, and nobody will be able take it from her. She goes on to produce the most successful German hiphop mixtape of all time (Kool Savas' „John Bello Story“), the Optik Records label sampler „Optik Takeover“ and the single „Das ist OR“. For two more years she blocks the top spot at the JUICE awards, and the growing success leads to a nomination at the MTV European Music Awards in the category „Best German Act“. Also she starts working closely with US recording artist Lil Flip.



In Germany Melbeatz is asked for whenever fellow rappers like Ercandize, Amar or Caput try to make classic, original hiphop music. But first and foremost her longtime collaborator Kool Savas cannot do without her production skills when he tries to show the hiphop world that he is still on top of his game – like he just did with his second solo album „Tot oder lebendig“ which was released in early 2008. Seems like the king of rap and the queen of beats are sitting quite relaxed on their throne. The nation will see some more exciting projects in the future, and some day king and queen will conquer the whole world – Optik boom!
