Megan Wheatley wrote the song, "I'm Makin' Dinner" at the age of 4 with nothing but a flour mixer as accompaniment. Music has been rushing though her ever since.

She has been entertaining people from the age of 5 when she started in community theater. By the time she was 7, she was a stage veteran with 5 roles under her belt. It was then that she started to play the piano. A piano, oddly enough, that was won by chance on a game show by her uncle. She immediately took to the piano, quickly figuring out songs she heard on the radio, much to the chagrin of her very traditional, very old and sometimes narcoleptic piano teacher. She started singing with the church choir at around 9.

In her high school years, she started writing her own material. Whatever came to her, came out of her. She also performed in all the plays and even formed a school chorus where there was none. The chorus was successful and put the spotlight on the fact that there was no music and arts department at the school, which was desperately needed. She came back after graduating to play for school masses and to accompany such plays as Annie and the annual Passion Play. Two years after she graduated, they started a real music department.

It was around the age of 19 when Megan was recruited for several local bands (which she played for all at the same time!). She played with locals Common Scents, Blue Steele and Lost Cause's Doors cover band "Lizard King". At 20 she picked up the guitar for the first time and after a few mini-lessons with friends, she started writing songs on guitar as well.

At 22 she decided that "originals" were the way to go. She co-founded Ghost of Tom, a band which played the DC area for about 5 years and celebrated one CD release. After G.O.T. disbanded, she played on her own in small venues and sat with many area bands.

In 2001, she co-founded The Electric Company with old Lost Cause bandmates. They have been playing together ever since. Megan loves playing the songs she grew up listening to! In the meantime, she has written close to 50 songs of her own and is in the process of recording a new album on her own. The next step for her in the musical process is the art of recording.

Megan is an accomplished musician. Her sound crosses many lines, whether it be blues/rock/folk/jazz with a twang sometimes. She tries to have no boundaries when it comes to music.
