Ever since emerging songstress Megan Rochell first soloed in the choir of Christ Fellowship Baptist Church at age seven, the artist knew she wanted to be a star.

"Of course I was nervous in the beginning," Megan remembers, her hundred-watt smile brightening the room. "Yet, once I felt the music touch me and God leading me, I knew at that moment what I was meant to do with my life." Born in Brooklyn to a Black mother and a Puerto Rican father, Megan was raised by her loving grandmother, whom she also credits for her success. "My grandmother was there for me when no one else was," she says. Besides making sure little Megan was in church every Sunday, grand-ma also escorted Megan back and forth for Apollo auditions. "I was a five-time winner at the Apollo Amateur Night when I was eleven, and also appeared on the televised version." Performing the Monica song Before You Walked Out of My Life for millions, Megan says, "Just being on that stage was heaven."

Moving to Philadelphia at eighteen, Megan Rochell's professional life behind the mic began with a series of chance encounters. Meeting the son of soul icon (of Gamble & Huff ) Leon "Pop" Huff Jr. Megan was soon in the studios of Philadelphia International Records, where she wrote songs and recorded demos. One afternoon, walking down South St. she then met Boyz II Men member, Nathan Morris. "Believe it or not, I sang for him right on the spot at his studio," Megan states. "His reaction was, 'Yo, you gotta let me work with you.'" After working with Nathan for several months, Megan signed with his management company, "Adlib Entertainment."
After signing with Def Jam in late 2005, Megan dropped her first hit single in 2006 "The One You Need" produced by Rodney Jerkins featuring Fabulous that peaked at number 42 on the Billboard magazines Hot R&B/Hip Hop songs. The second single, "Floating", peaked at number 55 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Her third single, released in early 2007, "Let Go" peaked at number 34 on the Rhythmic Top 40 chart.

Rochell has worked with a dream team of producers and collaborators that includes Rodney Jerkins, Fabulous, Ne-Yo, the Cornerboys, the Underdogs and Stargate. Artists like Mary J. Blige, The Notorious B.I.G. and Marvin Gaye are my favorites, and it was that kind of emotional honesty I want for my own album." Coming out strong with her first single "The One U Need," produced by rhythmic veteran Rodney Jerkins and featuring Fabulous. "Rodney and I vibe so well in the studio," Megan says. "He is a very hands-on kind of producer who has no problems challenging me as a singer." Laced with an addictive beat and dance floor flavor, the track promises was a breakout for the young performer. "I really feel that Rodney bought out the best in me."
No longer with Def Jam recording artist Megan Rochell is starting fresh, with a new look, new label, new management, and a new prospective on her career . After the disappointment of her debut album never being released You, Me & The Radio, Megan began to do alot of soul searching about her career and where she wanted it to go. "I knew that I had to take control, because my career determines the rest of my life and at the end of it all, I am the one that will ultimately be affected," says Megan. "I had to take my pain and disappointments to God and put it in his hands." Her endeavors with the record label and management made Megan mentally, spiritually and creatively stronger to work even harder towards her destiny.

Megan met new manager Anthony "Hunc" Nixon President of Team Hunc outside of Def Jam office two years ago, the two bonded as friends and continued their friendship. After departing ways with old management, Megan called upon her dear friend Hunc to step up to the plate. "I was hesitate at first because we were friends, but Megan is the type of artist that knows what she wants, her talent goes deeper then just her voice it's imbedded in her spirit and how can you say no to that," says Hunc.

Megan is now working on a new album and will be releasing a new single in 2009. Her goal is to continue to create great music that her fans can relate to and make music that takes audiences on a journey. From the frenzied soul of the Cornerboys' "Outta My Mind" to chill-out cool of Stargate's smooth "Betcha Didn't Know," its obvious that Megan Rochell is more than just another pretty face in a video. Indeed, this is just the beginning of a wonderful relationship between a talented singer and her adoring audience.
