A LITTLE BIOGRAPHY
www.missmeaghanowens.com
Her lyrics are sweet and switchblade sharp.
Miss Meaghan Owens writes songs that are small fictions of the Americana sound-scape. Her sound is Indie, it's Country, it's Folky, it's filled with traces of Jazz and the Blues. Amidst this era of popped-out American Idolatry, Miss Meaghan seeks out the songs that live way down in our true dreams and despairs, filled with real glamour and grit.
Miss Meaghan is a Midwestern girl who's rambled
all over the place. She has toured extensively in the USA. From smoky Austin honky-tonks, to Milwaukee punk rock clubs, to California folk gatherings alike.
Miss Meaghan has shared the stage and opened for hundreds of talented musicians in every genre
including national country and folk acts like: Junior Brown, folk legend funny man Ramblin Jack Elliott, Nashville Cats like the late Don Helms (pedal Steel legend for Hank Williams Sr, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline), Buddy Spicher, folkies Tracy Grammer or Peter Mulvey, country artist Stella Parton, psychedlic genius Sigmund Snopek III, songstress Heidi Spencer, bluegrass Jim Lauderdale, Texas bluesman Catfish Stephenson, rockin' Purgatory Hill, done backup singing for funky Wahnderlust and Kim Manning. Song circles with more genius outlaw writers than she can count like Billy Ray Reynolds, Red Lane, Pat McDonald, Eric Mcfadden, Storytella, Billy Tripplett, Phil Lee, etc.
Meaghan is an Official Spokesperson for the National Non-Profit Guitars for Vets. With headquarters based in Milwaukee, WI she continues to partner with this amazing group of people dedicated to sharing the healing power of music to our nation's injured veterans.
Her latest CD, Gun Shy of a Kiss is available at her shows in person. It will soon be available for online purchase. She recorded the record in Nashville and Milwaukee. Mainly choosing a pool of "Milwaukee's Best" to showcase the true talent alive and well in Brew City! Co-produced by Sigmund Snopek III, Dave Vartanian, and Meaghan herself. The CD features quartets from the Milwaukee Symphony players and horns from Warren Weigratz and the members of Streetlife(Milwaukee Bucks band).
Never afraid of hard work, Miss Meaghan is paying
her dues, writing tunes, splitting her time living along the Wisco road or in Nashville, playing vintage rockabilly car shows, touring with The World Famous Wall of Death Trick motorcycle riders, playing venues like Madison's Brink Lounge, the Stoughton Opera House, or Shank Hall and in Nashville the Bluebird or songwriter venues the The French Quarter. Out west The Stage Door in northern California or the Brick in Washington state and "all tomorrow's parties in between."
She is honored to be included in many great music and song-writing festivals in recent years including: Summerfest, The Steel Bridge Songwriter Festival, The Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival.
Owens sings in the folkloric voices of her characters.
Listen and you'll find young sweethearts, vagabonds, whiskey drunk preachers, wild girl fights, french cabaret songbirds, and regular folks like us, on the edge of a choice between light and darkness.
Real people, with real voices and stories. Meaghan sings and composes in many languages: Swedish, French, Russian, and Irish.
REVIEWS
"Owens' voice is sweet and strong, like a lilac bush
or a brandy old fashion."

"Above all, the poetic Owens is a gifted lyricist
who pens a new patriotism steeped in the thinking person's simultaneous love and dissapointment of America."
"If Marie Osmond is a little bit country and a little bit rock'n'roll,Owens is also that--and more."
(Snider-Edler)(www.onmilwaukee.com)
"This Milwaukee singer-songwriter has a languid delivery and a quirky composing style on the title tune to her CD. Accompanied by her own electric guitar playing, it's a collection notable for its spare, stark production and oddball, ear-catching novelties."
(Robert K. Oermann--Nashville Star Judge/Music Row Magazine)
The second edition of Meaghan's CD: No Whiskey in a Good Girl's River is available in person at her shows and Itunes or cdbaby.
(featuring guest artists from the Violent Femmes, The Danglers,Get Up Kids, Hayward Williams etc)
