MC Gi

Giovanna Avino, aka MC GI.
Born and raised in Santos - São Paulo, Brazil.
She begun to compose very young, 5 years old, surprising everyone with her talent. After some time she focused her lyrics on social issues - themes and protest. By the end of 2006, while attempting to start a band, she met with a friend from school, Thales, that had started his career as an MC and as a coincidence Giovanna had a Funk written, the "Funk do Mosquito" based on a Dengue epidemic that ocurred in her city.
MC Thales loved the music and asked Giovanna to record it. After that Giovanna became MC GI and started to compose more Funk lyrics, her style verges into satire and double entendre.
MC GI conquered and conquering many fans everyday.
In 2008 she was one finalist from a concourse that would choose the new vocalist for Bonde do Rolê. Despite of being young, MC GI has been calling attenction from brazilian and foreign producers and her songs were remixed, some of then are: Dj Edgar, Dj Chernobyl, Edu K, Cello Zero, Blood Shake, Kavera Koma Klub, Pristine Blusters, Art Punk, Dem Slackers, Billion Dollar Djs, De La Cobra, BSBTRGDCLUB, Dj Comrade.
MC GI's goal is to present the Funk as brazilian culture in hers country and abroad, showing what her music is capable of.
