MY BIO

Garcia aka Charla, was born Miguel A. Garcia in Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1971. He grew up having to deal with hard times, like lots of other New York families. Being brought up in the streets of Brooklyn, he was influenced by local gangs. These same streets introduced him to the violent reality of what it takes to survive, hardening his character at a young age. It was not long before Garcia took to hustling with other well-known individuals in Brooklyn. Hip Hop was always a part of his life. It all began when his cousin introduced him to a hip-hop record, by the Sugar Hill Gang. By the age of 13, Garcia took his love for hip-hop to the streets. He soon hooked up with Samuel Grajales, also known as DJ TEC, a kid who had recently moved into his neighborhood from Bushwick. DJ TEC took Garcia in, and out of the streets in which he had been self-surviving. Together, they made numerous local jams, helping them make a name for themselves. Around the late 80s, early 90s, they teamed up with a DJ from the same borough named Black of Black Berry Funk Productions. They also did some stuff with J Dixon, who had some doors open enabling them to start working with local groups, as were The Architects, which later came to be known as The Mersalus R.N.S. The Hard Pack, another local crew with whom Garcia worked with the help of Lue (aka Spliff) and Boobs, played a major part in the shaping of what Garcia?s music is today. However, Garcia took it south, bringing his own heat to Orlando, Florida. He never thought he would do music again, but his mother?s native tongue called him out with the rhythm of Reggaeton. Music was knocking at his door, and Garcia accepting its invite. Lil by lil, Garcia has been making a name for himself in the Reggaeton industry. He has since worked with artists by the likes of Wilo y Capone, Lansky El Killer, Sir Juano, Bagy, and El Rey Del Sandungeo Funky. He has worked with various song producers, and has been a part of the CD, ASASSINS. Even though the streets took up most of Garcia?s young life, one thing is for certain, he has his place in the music game. It is never too late to Make It Happen.
