The past couple of years have truly been an amazing experience for me. God has played a huge role in directing my path and sending the right people my way. Things started to pick up back in 2005 when I landed 4 songs on the soundtrack to the film Derailed featuring actors Jennifer Aniston and Clive Owen. Having my name attached to such a huge film was truly an honor. Another great opportunity came right after when I was called upon to sing the National Anthem at the 2006 NBA playoffs, which by the way was very nerve wrecking because that was my first time performing in front of that many people. Throughout this process, I was also seeking what I wanted the world to discover. Who is Maurice and what is he all about? With so many talented artist out there how do you set yourself apart? I answered my own question, Maurice just be you. I’m not going to appeal everyone, that’s impossible no artist can, but being myself is what im good at and in doing so I will attract the people that love and respect my music and me. A Couple months later I got a call from my team telling me that my song “Baby” was picked up for Quentin Tarantino’s film “The Protector”. It was a weird feeling sitting in the theater hearing my song playing in the background, and to this day I can never forget the rush I felt. My song “Baby” got picked up for the second time for a spike TV series called Afro samurai featuring Samuel L. Jackson and now I had 3 soundtracks to my name, very soon after they came calling for the 2nd installment for the Afro Series where my song “R U Still Gonna Roll” was featured. Wow I said, God is continuing to bless my labor. Currently I have released my debut single “Love Letter” and very excited to continue on my destined path and would love it if you joined me.
