How's tricks! It's Matt here coming to you from sunny Dallas, Texas. I'm what you call an 'old soul', and I've been into nostalgia and all things old for as long as I can remember.
I started down this musical journey on clarinet, later adding saxophone to the mix- 8 years ago I took up the accordion and there's been no turning back! To my arsenal I've added all saxes, piano, tuba, tenor guitar, tenor banjo, uke, vibes, and xylophone, but accordion's the main attraction. I play a lot of solo jobs, but I also play with a few groups and I'm always looking for new folks to jam with. I specialize in vintage music of 1895-1935, but I play a myriad of styles including rags, jazz, novelty, marches, Latin, swing, classical, 50s/60s rock, ska, classical, fox trots, and all points in between. I'm also an avid collector of 78 rpm records, as well as vintage sheet music from the 1890s- 1940s, that's where I find a lot of my material, great composers like Berlin, Tilzer, DeSylva, Brown, Henderson, and so on.
So if you're in town, swing by and take a listen at any of the places I'm playing. I'm currently working on some new recordings, I'll definitely put the word out when the CD is finished! I play all the instruments (accordion, bass/alto/tenor saxes, piano, banjo, etc.) with the exception of a few exceptional guest stars.
