Biography

Matthew Moss was born March 12, 1984 in Houston, TX. Matthew always had an interest in music, but did not pick up an instrument until he moved to Louisiana. He fell in love with the bass guitar after receiving it as a gift on his 14th birthday. He started playing in church, school and anywhere he could get away with.
Matthew furthered his education with music theory classes and private lessons through high school and some college, all the while playing in groups from rock to jazz. Matt left college behind when he was offered an opportunity he felt he could not pass up. Contemporary Blues artist Mike Zito asked Matthew to come play on the road with him. For three years Matthew learned the importance of stage presence, musicianship, and the music business as a whole. While working for Zito Matthew performed on the albums Superman and Real Strong Feeling. Matt has shared the stage with such notables as Tesla, Buddy Guy, Dr. John, and Tab Benoit.
Along with performance, Matthew has a passion and talent for sound engineering and composition. He writes a variety of songs and instrumentals. His latest creations range from upbeat pop rock songs to eerie haunting instrumentals. He also has a unique and exciting solo bass composition album, Self Titled that displays his technical and melodic abilities. Matthew Moss has also recorded, mixed, and performed on various artist's albums in the Texas and Louisiana area.
Matthew Moss has recently accepted the opportunity to join the engineering team at EMF productions, a studio located in Lake Charles, LA famous for its hand in recording and co-producing songs from Rocky IV and Transformers - The Movie.
With a strong arsenal of engineering, composition, and performance, Matt is a strong and valuable force in the world of music. He lives and breathes music in every way shape and form. "I wouldn't be sane doing anything else."

Review

"I enjoyed your compositions - and the fact that you've written endings
to your songs. So many solo bassists seem to just stop playing or end
songs awkwardly. Bravo!"

I really enjoyed your cd. Excellent display of technique and musicality.
The part I like the best are the compositions. I don't listen to solo bass
cd's very often, but you've got a great one there. All the best to you,
man, you sound great!

Exquisite!!
Touch, sensitivity, grace. These three words embody what this beautiful musician brings to his instrument. The bass has never sounded so exquisite. Interplay between bright strums and soft brushing of chords matched with the strength of ten men to create this harmonious singular musical landscape built upon the earth shattering foundation of one of the most beautifully soul stirring instruments ever conceived, The bass guitar. This man takes his the instrument to new soaring heights and never comes down. Bravo!

-Garage Band Reviewer-

A sublime display of bass virtuosity
I was impressed by the level of musicianship from the first note. The performance raised the bar for solo bass contemporaries thanks to a striking melodic form and exquisite dynamic control. Brilliant recording quality displayed here as well. Well done!
