VISITMATTER

October 2001, just when the world was getting used to seeing Airplanes in the skies again I began to convert my garage into a fully functional recording/rehearsal studio. Along with the help of a good friend Tim, we built a sound proofed studio with A/C, half moon drum riser, really well done if I may say so myself, nothing half assed, finishing The Studio by mid January 2002.

Studio done lets make some noise, time for Tim and I to start auditions. In early 2003 after a full year of countless drum & bass auditions, we find Charles our Drummer, a classically trained percussionist from Rhode Island with energetic fills and rock solid grooves and Tony on Bass. Our set list was mostly covers back then, which slowly began to eat away at me, as my head is like a radio, I have to write and create music. We gig and rehearse for a while then decide to record our own Demo.uh oh! “It Is What It Is” was the outcome, an Original five track CD, never Mastered. This CD of my music was a “big kick in the nuts to me”, it told me a very different story, as far as musical direction. This led to Matter parting company with two good people in January 2004 leaving Charles and Myself to bring this Monster to life.

Two CD’s later (Make A Difference in May 2004 and Stewed in May 2005) and still without a permanent Bassist. We begin to cruise the open mic/jam nights hoping to find such an animal. After performing and being well received as a Duo we began to gig as a Duo both electric and nylon acoustic, until May 2006 when I had to tear down my studio and move.

For the first time in four years Matter had nowhere to rehearse, until we took over the Wednesday night jam at The G in Ft Lauderdale. This we turned into The Matter-Jam a very successful vehicle for us to promote Matter, network with local bands and audition bassists at the same time. We ran this until the end of the year until I started to rebuild my studio; I went into hibernation working until I fell asleep with the screw gun in my hand, while listening to all our old rehearsals to keep me fired up. I’ve recorded every Matter rehearsal in the last three years, this helps to create, criticize and see how wasted we were.

January 2007 studio done, man that was a tough couple of months, but my Sanctuary was complete, bigger, acoustically awesome, but the A/C isn’t as good. Back to auditioning the idiots until April when I decide to pick up the tool of ignorance myself. I actually had a load of fun playing bass, gave me a new scope on song writing. So we decide to record another bloody CD this time with me on Bass. “Avoiding The Obvious” Was The End Result.

We Gig For A While With A Young Bassist Joe, Until His School Life Becons Hims Back To Reality. Joe Left Us High And Dry Caused Some Bad Feelings, But Hey I Liked Joe Shame It Ended The Way It Did.

2008 We Start The Year Off With Sonny, Cool Cool Guy But His Vices Got The Better Of Him, His Matter Time Was Short Lived. With The Sea Food Festival Coming Up In April We Grab Our Friend George From The Guitar Center To Shake Things Up A little, Apart From My Amp Blowing Up In Sound Check The Show Went OK. One Month Later George Is Out Of The Picture.Yeah Ain't This Crazy.

Next Up Diego From Equador Makes Our Dreams Come True, We Book Gigs Play Open Mics We're Ready To Rule,Until His Visa Expires, We're Back To Two. Now We're Gutted Thoughts Of A Hiden Camera In Our Studio Rise, Thinking This Would Make A Great Reality Show.

December Goes Wild Auditioning Over 12 Bassist That Month, But Still No Permanent Third, Auditions Still Taking Place, Keep Ya Posted.

Hope to See ya’ll Live,……Real Soon………….Matter.
